Have A Lovely Day Spring Card | Simon Says Stamp

Punxsutawney Phil didn't see his shadow on Groundhog Day, so I've decided to celebrate the arrival of an early spring. With joyous thoughts of warmer weather in mind, I'm sharing a new card I created that has a spring like feel. To create my card, I used the Lovely Spring stamp set and Lovely Day coordinating die set from Simon Says Stamp.

I created a simple watercolored background for the card from using a Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Pickled Raspberry. Next, I stamped the images onto the die cuts and adhered them to my card.

To help with the placement of the sentiment I used my new favorite stamping tool - my MISTI! This tool is a game changer when it comes to stamping. It gives you consistent and precise stamping every time using unmounted clear and rubber stamps. MISTI stands for Most Incredible Stamp Tool Invented and I have to agree, but don't just take my word for it. This tool was the Paper Craft Winner of the Hot Product Award at CHA in January. How awesome is that?!

Another wonderful tip I want to share with you is a recent discovery of mine. I have found my new favorite adhesive for sequins...Therm O Web Zots Bling. They are the perfect size for adhering sequins!

Multiple Ways To Use The Same Digital Cut File | A Silhouette Cameo Tutorial

Happy Monday 17turtles Fans! I hope you had a great weekend. I had a wonderful weekend despite the cold weather and snow here in Cleveland. This kind of weather is perfect for staying inside and scrapbooking!

Today, I'm sharing a new layout using a new 17turtles Cut File Y Yes No. 1, that just became available in the 17turtles Shop. I'm also sharing some fun options on how to use this cut file beside how I used it on this layout.

Love Anniversary Scrapbook Page by Juliana Michaels featuring 17turtles Digital Cut Files Love Always and Y Yes No. 1 Background

I created Y Yes No. 1 so that it could be used in multiple ways to create a fun design for the background of a scrapbook page.  I love the idea of filling in shapes with different colors and patterns. It makes me feel like I'm using more of my stash of papers and in my book, that is always a good thing!

As you can see from the image of the cut file above, there are 2 different colors. With ALL 17turtles Cut Files, different colors indicate that there are separate layers. This file has 2 different layers! On the layout that I created, I opened the file in Silhouette and then moved the top layer off to the side so that it would not be cut.

Different colors and different layers with 17turtles Digital Cut Files

I then cut the bottom layer darker from a piece of kraft cardstock and used the cut shapes on my layout. To help me position the shapes on my background paper, I used the large negative piece as a template.

For the next step, I switched the layers and placed the top layer onto the mat. I then selected the layer, right clicked and then ungrouped the shapes.

Ungrouping images with 17turtles Digital Cut Files

By ungrouping the shapes, I was then able to use the Fill Color option to play around and help me decide which pieces I wanted to cut from what color of patterned paper. Once I was happy with things,  I deleted the rest of the shapes that I did not want to cut.

Using the Fill Color Option with 17turtles Digital Cut Files

I then grouped each of the same colored shapes together and placed them in different corners of the mat. To help save paper, I cut pieces of paper that are just slightly larger than the grouped areas and place the paper onto the mat for cutting in that area. That way, I can cut all of the different colors at the same time.

Grouping and Cutting with 17turtles Digital Cut Files

Now, another fun option for this cut file is to use only the bottom layer and throw away the inside cut pieces (or save them for another project). You can then back the openings with different colors and patterns.

Another option would be to only use the top layer as a background. You could again, not the inside pieces or you could fill the openings. The cut file really has so many wonderful options!

The other cut file that I used on this layout is called Love Always and I used it to create my title.

I simply cut the words from white cardstock and then attached them to my layout.

Winter Scrapbook Page Ideas with Digital Cut Files | Part 2

Happy Monday 17turtles Fans! As you might remember last week, I shared a winter scrapbook page using one of my new cut files called Snowflake Background. Today, I'm showing you how I used the scraps from that layout to create another winter layout.

Winter Scrapbook Page by Juliana Michaels featuring 17turtles Digital Cut File Snowflake Background

When I cut the Snowflake Background Cut File, I had positioned it in the center of the white cardstock. After removing the cut file, I was left with a really cool looking frame that I decided to use for another layout. I love how the "frame" really keeps the focus on the photo and gives the illusion of being out in the snow.

Before I attached the snowflake frame to the background paper, I splattered the paper with some white Dylusions Ink to mimic the look of falling snow. I then added some stickers, letter stickers, die cuts, machine stitching and stamps to the layout.

So how do you like to use your Digital Cut File scraps? I'd love to hear or see what you do with them!
