Happy Birthday Scrapbook Page | Pebbles Birthday Wishes

Happy Birthday Scrapbook Page by Juliana Michaels #pebblesinc #birthday #scrapbookpage

I'm warning you now, you will be seeing quite a few "birthday" scrapbook pages on my blog this month. I am officially in love with the new Pebbles Inc Birthday Wishes collection! I think this collection was made for me and the birthday photos that I have to scrap. In fact, after I write this post, I have plans to work on a new layout with it and I will of course, be sharing it soon.

This photo is of my youngest niece celebrating her 5th birthday. She wanted a Princess theme for her party, so her Mom, Grandma and myself set out to do just that. My Mom created her Princess cake and decorated it with a princess crown and wands that she found at the Dollar Store. Ava was of course, thrilled with the pinkness of it all!

To create my layout I used a mix of the patterned papers, washi tape paper, die cuts and Thickers that come with the Birthday Wishes collection.

INSPIRATION | BIRTHDAY CAKE DECORATIONS

I was inspired to use a large pink star on the background because of the pink star wands that my Mom used to decorate the cake. I cut it out using my Silhouette Cameo.

I then layered strips from the washi tape paper and patterned paper strips to embellish the page.

I don't know about you, but these Thickers make me HAPPY!

Vellum Sequin Shaker Pocket Tutorial

Sweet 16 Happy Birthday Card by Juliana Michaels #pebblesinc #birthdaycard #vellum #sequins

Well, I have finished all of my family visits and vacations for the summer! It was a great start to the summer getting to see a lot of my family and to go on vacation. But, now it's back to the real world and work. I must say though, that it will be good to get back into a routine of some sort. We still have lots planned for the summer, but not as much traveling.

Today, I'm sharing a Sweet 16 birthday card that I created for a friend of mine. This sweet lady contacted me recently asking me to create a card for her niece who was turning 16. I don't normally create cards to sell, but this was an exception that I was happy help out with. It was almost like it was meant to be, because I had just received the new Birthday Wishes collection from Pebbles. See what I mean? It was perfect timing!!!

I began by creating a Sweet 16 cut file to use with my Silhouette Cameo. The card base is from the Pebbles Birthday Wishes Cardmaking Paper Pad. Next, I created a vellum sequin shaker pocket (TUTORIAL BELOW) and then added the cupcake die cut. Yesterday I shared a Celebrate Birthday Card that also had a vellum sequin shaker pocket. I really think I could have made a ton of these. It was so much fun making the sequin pockets and shaking them! And if you are looking for some Happy Birthday digital cut files, make sure you check out my Happy Birthday FREE Digital Cut File too.

Oh and I also added a little glitter glue to the cherry on top!

TUTORIAL | VELLUM SEQUIN SHAKER POCKET TUTORIAL

Begin by cutting two pieces of vellum to 3.75" x 5". Use your sewing machine to stitch around three of the edges. Make sure to leave one side open or you won't be able to have fun with the sequins!

Vellum Sequin Shaker Pocket Tutorial #sequins #vellum

Leave a long loose thread on each side of the pocket. You will use this later to help close the pocket.

Vellum Sequin Shaker Pocket Tutorial #sequins #vellum

Next, fill the pocket with sequins. Make sure you don't add to many sequins. I know it's tempting, but more is not necessarily better in this case! You want the pocket to lay flat with the sequins inside, even when you turn it and the sequins move around.

Vellum Sequin Shaker Pocket Tutorial #sequins #vellum

After finish having fun adding the sequins, return to your sewing machine and stitch the open edge closed. Take the loose threads and tie them into a knot and trim the excess close to the tied knot. This will help secure the stitching. Now your pocket is complete and ready to be added to your project.

Thank You Card | 3 Birds Studio

Thank You Card by Juliana Michaels using 3 Birds Design #3birdsdesign #middaymedley #thankyoucard

Happy Wednesday! I hope your week is going well. Today, I'm sharing a new card I created using the 3 Birds Design Midday Medley collection. I used a combination of the Premium Paper Pad, 3D Embellishment Kit and Timeless Stamp Kit.

Thank You Card by Juliana Michaels using 3 Birds Design #3birdsdesign #middaymedley #thankyoucard

The floral swag is one of the stamps from the kit. I stamped it using the black ink pad that comes with the kit onto the die cut shape that also comes with the kit. This makes creating stamped embellishments so easy! Next, I colored in the image using Pan Pastels. I was lucky enough to be scrapping with a dear friend of mine the day I was creating this card and she let me try them out. I must say I am in love with them and I am looking forward to purchasing some in the near future. They blend so perfectly and add just the right bit of color!

I then added a sentiment from the stamp kit as well. I placed the floral swag piece on top of one of the 3D Embellishment stickers and here you can see the dimension this adds to the card.

Pocket Style Scrapbooking Without The Pockets

Fun Sun Happiness Scrapbook Page by Juliana Michaels #ellesstudio #scrapbookpage #shine

Today, I'm sharing a scrapbook page using the new Elle's Studio Shine collection. This collection has been perfect for scrapping some of my photos from our vacation to Mazatlan, Mexico last year. I started out doing traditional scrapbook pages with some of the the photos, but I quickly realized that it would take me forever to get them all scrapped that way. That is when the idea of doing them in a Pocket or Project Life style came to mind. I had printed most of the photos at 4x6 so I thought this might work perfectly for fitting a lot of them on one page. The problem with the pockets though was that I didn't have the right combination of pockets to fit the photos at the size I had printed them and I didn't want to reprint them and waste the money. What's a scrapper to do???

Fun Sun Happiness Scrapbook Page by Juliana Michaels #ellesstudio #scrapbookpage #shine

My solution... I decided to create a pocket style but without the pockets. To achieve this look, I started with a piece of white cardstock as the base. I then took a mix of Elle's Studio journaling cards and die cuts and laid them out with the photos that I wanted to use. I moved them around until I came up with a combination that worked. I then trimmed the photos as needed to fit the space and I left a 0.25" border around the outside edge and between the elements on the page to give it that "pocket style" look.

The next step was to embellish the "pockets" by adding more die cuts, wood veneers, stamps and of course my journaling. Now my "pocket style" pages were complete and I had scrapped 7 photos on a 2 page layout!

Friends Make Happiness Happen Scrapbook Page

Friends Make Happiness Happen by Juliana Michaels #scrapbookpage #layout #ellesstudio #shine
Just a quick post today. This week has been crazy with trying to finish up my scrapbook room makeover! Between bad paint, Milo's passing, a visit to my Dad and a vacation, it has been a slow process and has taken much longer than I had anticipated. But that is just the way things go sometimes and you have to roll with the punches! Saturday, my sister and her family are coming into town to visit for week, so things won't be slowing down anytime soon!

Back to my layout...I created this page using the new Shine collection by Elle's Studio for the June Design Team Gallery. This one is pretty simple, but sometimes simple helps keep the focus on the photo and that is exactly what I wanted to do with this one. This photo is of me and Danny with the friends that we went to Mazatlan, Mexico with last August. When I was looking for a title to use, I knew I wanted something about friends or friendship. When I saw the phrase "Friends Make Happiness Happen", I knew I had found the perfect title to capture my thoughts and feelings! We really had a great time and we really miss them!

Friends Make Happiness Happen by Juliana Michaels #scrapbookpage #layout #ellesstudio #shine
I added a few die cuts from the Elle's Studio Shine collection and trimmed a few strips from the Shine Good Times paper before stitching it to the background paper. I added a few sprinkles of Dylusions Ink Spray in White for a touch of fun. This is my new favorite purchase! The white stays white, even after it dries!

Thanks for stopping by today! I will be sharing a full post soon on my scrapbook room makeover!

Halloween Treat Bags Tutorial | SRM Stickers

Happy Halloween Muslin Treat Bags by Juliana Michaels for SRM Stickers #srmstickers #halloween #treatbags

Yes, I know it's only July, but one can never start too early on their Halloween Party ideas if you ask me! Many of you know, that I LOVE Halloween, so when Susan of SRM Stickers asked me to create a Halloween project using her new products, I had to say YES!!! I am sharing a tutorial with you today on how I created the "spider web" effect on the Muslin Bags and how I replaced the tie string on the bags with hand dyed seam binding. Let's take a look at what I did.

TUTORIAL | HALLOWEEN TREAT BAGS

When I first saw the Tim Holtz Splatter Stencil, the first thing that popped into my mind was a spider web. See? I told you that I love Halloween! So, I bought it and have been waiting for the perfect project to use it and that project is what I am sharing with you today.

Seam Binding: Hug Snug Seam Binding

Halloween Treat Bag Tutorial by Juliana Michaels

Begin by placing the mask over the bag.

Hold the spray ink rather close to the bag and stencil. I found that I got the best results - for me a darker image and less blurring of the delicate stencil design - by spraying in short sprays at maybe a max distance of 5" from the bag.

Repeat spraying until you cover the front of the bag with ink.

Remove the stencil and allow the ink to dry.

I replaced the tie on the bag with hand dyed seam binding. Being by tying a length of the dyed seam binding to the original tie.

Next, use scissors to carefully cut and enlarge the openings that the original string ran through. This will make the openings large enough that the knot created by tying the two pieces together will slide through easily.

Once the openings are enlarged, pull the original tie string to thread the seam binding into the bag.

Continue to pull until the seam binding is threaded through the bag and the old string is no longer inside the bag.

There you have it! It was super easy to do this on the set of bags I made. I'm sure you can think of even more fun ways to decorate and use these versatile muslin bags by SRM Stickers. Milo | BoBunny Happy Tails and MakeMyChe

Milo MakeMyChe by Juliana Michaels using BoBunny Happy Tails #bobunny #makemyche #happytails #dog

I'm on the BoBunny blog today sharing a home decor / art piece that I created using the Happy Tails collection. I started with a wire form character from My Ché, a local Cleveland based business that makes these fabulous paper maché kits in all these adorable shapes. They were initially created to let kids create real art using paper maché and paint.  From the moment I first saw them, my brain started swimming with different ways to create and play with them. I fell in love and I knew immediately that I wanted to add my own paper crafter flair to them by using some of my scrapbooking supplies instead of paper maché!

Milo MakeMyChe Juliana Michaels #makemyche

This is the Milo wire frame with nothing on it. He is begging for some color and texture isn't he?!

Next, I selected various yellow papers from the BoBunny Happy Tails collection and Double Dot Cardstock and tore them into strips. I wrapped them around the frame like this.

Supplies Used to Cover MakeMyChe with Paper Juliana Michaels #makemyche

I found it easier to lightly dampen the paper with water using a spray bottle and then I adhered the paper around the frame using Helmar Super-Tac Glue.

This gives you a view of the back side of the frame with the paper wrapped around it.
