17turtles is the go-to place for paper crafting enthusiasts who want to learn more about card making, mixed media, and all things paper crafting.

17turtles began in 2008 as a way for me to share my scrapbooking and paper crafting projects. I have continued to do this over the years along with sharing inspiration, tips, tutorials, sketches, and free digital cut files. I believe everyone has a story to share and an inner artist waiting to be set free. Making, crafting, creating, or whatever you want to call it, is my creative outlet. It helps me reduce stress, but it ultimately fills me with joy and happiness. If this is what crafting does for you, then you should feel right at home here!

If this sounds likes something you'd love to be a part of, then I invite you to subscribe to my blog and receive email notifications when my latest post is live. You can do that by subscribing through Mad Mimi here or Bloglovin here. So what are you waiting for? Sign up now!

I'm so happy you asked! 17turtles was founded by me, Juliana Michaels. I grew up in a creative household loving art, design, and making things with my hands. I give all the credit for my creativity to my multi-talented Mom who loved to paint, sew and draw. My Mom also photographed our daily lives and kept all of these photos stored and displayed in photo albums. Nearly 20 years ago I found my true passion in paper crafting and scrapbooking.

I've been a project designer in the paper craft/scrapbook industry since 2007 and I've been fortunate to work for many top scrapbooking and cardmaking manufacturers and designers including: Tim Holtz, Sunny Studio Stamps, Newton's Nook Designs, BoBunny, Bella Blvd, Elle's Studio, SRM Stickers, Provocraft, Pebbles, Therm O Web and Jillibean Soup. My projects have been published in a variety of magazines and idea books and I've had projects displayed at the Craft and Hobby Association Trade Show. You can view my full, detailed resume here.

In 2015,  I started a new journey in my creative career and fulfilled a lifelong dream to create graphics and product design as a graphic artist for Jillibean Soup. When I'm not creating for work, I love to create cards, home decor and other craft projects.

Over the years, my style has evolved and my interests in different types of paper crafting have changed. I initially began as a scrapbooker and then several years ago transitioned into card making. Most recently, I've fallen in love with mixed media and a slightly grungy, vintage style that really feels like home to me. As someone who easily becomes bored with the same thing all the time, I will continue to share a mix of products and styles with you. I realize this may be confusing to many people, but I love to create and sometimes I love clean and simple and other times I love getting my hands messy with ink and paint. I truly love just creating and sharing what I create with others!

On the personal side, I'm married to Danny, my best friend and the love of my life. I'm also mom to two Golden Retrievers named Lincoln and Shirley. I have a fondness for coffee, Mexican food, turtles, Halloween, Christmas and antiquing. In my spare time I love crafting, card making, playing with Lincoln and Shirley, enjoying the outdoors, and reading science and historical fiction.

I'd love to be crafty friends! Wouldn't you? If so, feel free to follow me on Instagram or sign up to receive an email when I share a new blog post that includes awesome cardmaking and paper crafting ideas, inspiration, tips and techniques!
