For The Love of Flying Layout

This past January, I had the opportunity of a lifetime! I got to flying with my Dad!!! He got his pilot's license again and I had been waiting and hoping that I would be able to go up with him. While I was home for a visit, my dream came true. He took me up in a little 4 seater plane and we flew all around the area of Missouri where they live and where I grew up. It was so cool to see it all from the air.  Of course, while I was up there I had to take some photos of some of the different sites from the air, including my parents house. I wanted to share this layout because I love this photo of my Dad. He loves flying and I feel like this photo captures him enjoying the moment!

INSPIRATION | Unknown
I'd love to say that something special or cool inspired this layout, but it was nothing more than playing with paper that inspired this one. I had been holding on to some of these papers and embellishments, especially the transparency by Webster's Pages with the airplanes on it, to use when I finally got around to scrapping these photos.

Halloween Witch Re-Model

Halloween is coming and I am so excited! This year we are having our first annual Halloween Costume party and I am really looking forward to it. Of course, that means I get to go crazy decorating the house for the party!!! Last year I found this super cool witch at TJ Maxx. She was perfect last year because I had a mantel to sit her on.

Halloween Witch Re-Model

As you can see, she is made for sitting on a shelf or mantel. Well, I didn't have any good shelves or a mantel for her. I wasn't sure where to put her, but I knew I had to find a place for her. I mean look at that face?!

Halloween Witch Re-Model Before

So I sat her on top of these boxes. And then a light bulb went on and I thought..."What if I make her a skirt to cover the boxes and then she would look like she was standing up?"

Halloween Witch Re-Model

These boxes are being recycled from a previous project that I created for the Cricut Circle Blog.

Pumpkin Centerpiece

This was the perfect solution! All I needed to do was sew her a skirt. I dug through my fabric stash, found some black and silver fabric and did just that. I even recycled the black lace along the edge of her skirt. Here she is after her re-model!

Halloween Witch Re-Model After

She now stands proudly on the buffet in my dining room and keeps watch over the spiders in the jar next to her! ;)

Patterned Paper Christmas Ornaments | Free Digital Cut File

Merry Christmas everyone! Ok...I know it's not Christmas yet, but I am starting to get into the Christmas gift and crafting mood after creating this pair of patterned paper Christmas ornaments using some SRM Stickers, BoBunny and a FREE digital cutting file.

TUTORIAL | How to create your own patterned paper Christmas ornaments
  1. Use the free Christmas Ornament digital cutting file to cut out the layers of the ornament from your choice of patterned papers. Put the small vertical shape to the side.
  2. Ink the edges of each cut piece with Ranger Distress Ink in Vintage Photo and then Walnut Stain.
  3. Layer the larger pieces and adhere with adhesive.
  4. Adhere a border sticker along the right hand edge of the rounded square shape.
  5. Attach the larger die cut shapes (The little boy and girl die cuts are part of the BoBunny Silver & Gold Noteworthy pack) with double sided foam tape.
  6. Adhere sentiment sticker to small vertical shape.
  7. Apply gold glitter glue around edge of the die cut shape. When dry, add jewels and attach to the ornament.
  8. Cut a length of baker's twine and attach to back side of ornament and tie in a loop to create a way to hang your ornament.

From Illinois to Ohio Layout

As some of you know, we recently moved to Ohio. With the first day of fall upon us and cooler temperatures arriving, I am beginning to wonder "What have I done"?! LOL!!! I actually love Cleveland and already feels like home. I do know, though, that I am not looking forward to winter and I hope it stays away for a bit yet!

INSPIRATION | Patterned Paper
While we were moving here, I took a photo with my phone of the highway sign for our exit. I have been waiting for the right papers to scrap them and this particular paper by Studio Calico seemed perfect with all the images of the different states. I then had fun adding bits and pieces from my stash that coordinated to create a fun little cluster in the bottom right hand corner. This was definitely a fun layout to create and a little different for me because I used three of the same photo.

Just For You Card | Pebbles From Me to You

Sometimes you have a friend who needs a pick me up and a little homemade card can be the perfect thing to help. I made this card for a dear online friend who was in need of such a pick me up recently and I hope she enjoyed it!

The Pebbles From Me to You collection is perfect for card making. I simply selected a card base from the Card Making Pad and a library pocket. I then dressed it up with some washi tape, twine, stickers and Candy Dots.

TIP | Sticker Embellishments & Baby Powder
I loved this bouquet of flowers sticker, but I didn't want to just stick it on the front of the card. Instead, I applied baby powder to the backside of the sticker to remove the stickiness. I then slide it inside the library pocket and attached it to the card with a piece of double sided foam tape. Now it has a lot more dimension and adds a touch of fun and whimsy to the card.

Today I Was Here Layout | Paper Bakery Sketch Challenge 13

Sketch Challenge 13 is live on the Paper Bakery blog. I was inspired to create this sketch after getting a sneak peek of the contents of the September Scrapbook kit. That Glitz Design Wild & Free sticker sheet did the trick!!!

Today I Was Here Layout by Juliana Michaels

TIP | Altering stickers
A simple trick I used on this layout was to take the feather stickers and cut them so that you looked more like a real feather. To make this easier, I applied baby powder to the back side of the sticker, which removes the stickiness and then cut them with my scissors. I then attached them to my layout with double sided foam tape to give them even more dimension.  I then grouped them together with a feather charm and ribbon to make a nice little cluster.

Be Yourself Layout | Paper Bakery September Scrapbook Kit

Today I have a layout to share with you using the Paper Bakery September Scrapbook Kit Art Fair. It is now available in the shop if you don't already have a membership! It is full of fabulous product from Bella Blvd, Glitz Design, Jillibean Soup and My Mind's Eye.  I really enjoyed creating with this month's kit and so far I have made 4 layouts and 2 cards! This layout was a joy to create because of the subject matter...my awesome SIL! These photos are from my niece's wedding in May and I have been waiting for the right paper to use with them. Besides the kit, I also used some embellishments from the Paper Bakery shop including some washi tape and resin hearts!

Too Cute Halloween and Sisters Forever Layouts | Bella Blvd

Today is my final day up on the Bella Blvd blog. I have had the wonderful opportunity to be one of their Ongoing Guest Designers this past year and it has been such a great experience. I am so thankful to have had this opportunity. I really love playing and creating with the Bella Blvd products and their new collections from CHA this summer has been no exception!!!

I have two layouts to share today. This first layout was created using the new Trick or Treat collection, which is one of my new favorite collections! I layered several of the different patterns to create a fun base for my photo and journaling.  This photo is of my best friend's daughter. The last time I went to visit was during the weekend that she had her Girl Scout Halloween party and lucky me was there to get some photo of her in her costume!

My second layout here uses a mix of collections ranging from Summer 2013 CHA to Summer 2014 CHA and everything in between. I didn't realize how it drew from every release since I have been a part of their team until I was writing this post. I think it is kind of cool how I was able to do that, but it also shows how well ALL of her collections coordinate with each other!  A fun tip about this layout is that the die cut heart pieces behind my photo are "scraps" from another layout. I had saved the large scraps for some crazy reason, but I'm glad I did, because they worked perfectly to layer and place behind my photo.  The photo is of my two darling nieces and I just loved how they are being sweet with each other in this photo. It is near impossible to get a photo of the two of them hugging!

Thank You Card and Twine Flower | Pebbles Basics

Hi everyone! How are you doing today? I hope you are having a great day! I have a fun little card to share with you today. This started out as me wanting to use some scraps from some of my other Pebbles projects and I think in the end, it came together quite well. The sentiment is what I trimmed off one of the journaling cards as I was creating the mat for my photos on my Gift of Love layout.  The white cardstock flower was an extra one that I cut when I created my Flower Pots using my Daisy Flower free digital cutting file. The flower was fine by itself, but I felt like it needed a little boost. That is when I remember this fabulous tutorial that I had seen by Tracey Sabella to create twine flowers. The shape of these twine flowers was perfect to mimic the shape of my digital die cut flower!

I used a fabulous tutorial by Tracey Sabella to create this fun twine flower! They may look a little intimidating to make a first, but with a little patience and practice you will be making them with ease to use on your next crafting project.

Made With Love Thanksgiving Layout

Fall, is not quite here, but with the start of school we all know that cooler weather, colorful foliage and fresh from the oven pies are on their way! The layout I have to share today was created as a design team assignment for SRM Stickers and our focus was to be Thanksgiving. I created this as a tribute to the homemade pumpkin and pecan pies that my Mom makes every year for Thanksgiving. Besides the tradition of her making these two pies, pretty much everyone in the family will have a slice of each pie on the same plate when it's time for dessert!

TIP | Use SRM Stickers to create titles and to customize your patterned paper
To create my layout title, I added one of the SRM Stickers to a strip of mostly solid patterned paper, trimmed around it and then attached it to my layout.
The fun part with the clear stickers however, was using them to create a word collage on my patterned paper.  I used a combination of SRM Thanksgiving stickers and placed them in random places, but still in a horizontal position, on the patterned paper. By doing this, I was able to customize the already beautiful patterned paper.

TIP | Hidden journaling using Kraft bags
I included copies of my Mom's recipes on my layout. My Mom scanned her recipes and then sent them to me. I printed them on white cardstock, attached them to a die cut tag and placed them inside one of the 5 x 7.5" SRM Stickers Kraft Bags. The bag was then used as a mat for my photo of the pies and I embellished it with some BoBunny embellishments and twine from The Twinery.
