2. Hero Arts Patina Effect Kit

  

Everyone is going to have a new favorite technique with this Patina Effect Kit from Hero Arts. This kit includes a small plastic jar of brass embossing powder and a turquoise Hero Hues pigment ink cube. These two products will create magic when used on your projects. To use, first apply the turquoise pigment ink to your paper. Then sprinkle the brass embossing powder onto the inked area, leaving some areas without powder if desired. Tap the excess powder off. Aim a heat tool 3 to 4 inches away from the design for 10 to 30 seconds to watch the powder magically melt and turn metallic.



Every mixed media artist needs a permanent ink when working with a variety of mediums and this Ranger Ink Tim Holtz Distress Archival Ink 4 Pack is just what they need. These inks are acid free, archival, permanent, waterproof, and fade resistant. This ink can be used on multiple surfaces and can be heat set on all surfaces. This ink can be cleaned with Archival Ink Cleaner and the pads can be re-inked with the archival re-inkers (both products sold separately). These are standard sized ink pads and the colors included are Black Soot, Ground Espresso, Hickory Smoke, and Vintage Photo.

4. Sizzix Effectz Luster Wax



Sizzix Effectz Luster Wax is perfect for adding shimmer and shine to your projects. It is made with beeswax and infused with orange oil for smooth application and finish. Luster wax has so many uses and is perfect for adding a touch of shine to your projects. It comes in three beautiful colors: Gold, Silver and Rose Gold.

Tim Holtz and Ranger Ink have designed yet another embossing powder and you are going to love this Distress Frosted Crystal Embossing Powder. This powder is designed to create a matte frosted texture on cardstock and other surfaces.  It can also be used as an embossing foundation and then proceeding to color your image with Distress Crayons, Inks, or Oxides. Paper Weaving Made Easy With Scrapbook.com Slimline Strips Decorative Dies

Hey crafty friends! Today Today I'm sharing a card I created using the brand new Scrapbook.com Slimline Strips Decorative Dies and I used them to do a paper weaving technique. It's an old technique that's been around for years, but when I saw the new Slimline Strips Dies from Scrapbook.com I immediately thought of this technique! In this post, I'm going to take you through my process and show you just how easy paper weaving is. You'll be ready to grab these dies and give this technique a try ASAP!

Paper Weaving Made Easy With Scrapbook.com Slimline Strips Decorative Dies - Hello Gorgeous You Slimline Card by Juliana Michaels

I knew I wanted to create a slimline sized card, so I grabbed a piece of Distress Watercolor and trimmed it to 4 x 8.5". I then used the ink smooshing technique to add color to the paper using Villainous Potion Distress Ink. To ink smoosh, you simply smooth the ink pad onto a craft mat, spritz it with water and then smoosh/dip your paper into the ink. Lift and then dry with your heat tool. Repeat as desired until the paper is to your liking. I also spritzed the paper with my Distress Sprayer and dabbed it dry to lift some of think for even more distressed goodness.

With my paper ready, I selected the 1/4" strips from the Slimline Strips Decorative Dies Set and die cut my paper into strips. This die set comes with 4 dies that will cut multiple strips in varying widths from 3/16" up to 1/2". 


Once the strips were cut, I began weaving them to create my embellishment. I cut some of the strips into half and thirds and used them for the horizontal strips. When all the strips were woven together, I trimmed the strips to make them different lengths and to add some interest to the design. I added a touch of adhesive here and there to hold the strips together, but I didn't glue each and every strip. I then adhered the woven piece to my card front.


As you can see the card front has a little bit of design to it. I used the Scrapbook.com Slimline Lattice Stencil and ink blended through it using Milled Lavender Distress Ink. I then added a little more stencil detail with the Tim Holtz Dot Fade Stencil and Villainous Potion Distress Ink. To finish off the background I lightly ink blended around the edge with more Villainous Potion Distress Ink.


I used the Scrapbook.com Downtown Alphabet Dies to cut out the YOU. I adhered white cardstock to some Scrapbook.com 2" Double Sided Foam Tape and then die cut them. This is a great way to give your letter dies some dimension and makes them easy to adhere since they already have adhesive on them. I left the insides of the letters in place for added interest.


Next, I used one of the Tim Holtz Detailed Butterflies Thinlits and die cut it from silver glitter paper from the Scrapbook.com Mixed Metals Glitter Paper Pad.

The sentiment is from the Scrapbook.com Oh So Happy Wordfetti Stamp Set. I then finished off the card by adding a few Pinkfresh Studio Metallic Silver Pearls.

1. Waffle Flower Crafts Blending Brushes


Blending brushes are a blending tool that allows you to pick ink up onto the bristles and apply it to your project using a gentle swirling motion. You can apply a soft touch of color around the edges of a project, fully color an area, combine multiple colors and blend them together. There are also lots of fun techniques you can do with them. You can also use them with fun techniques. I personally love using these type of brushes with stencils as they allow the ink to get into the corners of the stencil and give you clean crisp edges.

The bristles are white which makes it easier to see how much media is being applied. I've had a MISTI for years now and the day I started using it I was hooked. I had always struggled with getting a good stamped image and this tool changed all of that. It actually made me fall in love with stamping and cardmaking!

Die Cutting Made Easy With Scrapbook.com Paper Pads

Hey crafty friends! Halloween is officially behind us (but don't tell anyone I'm still privately crafting with Halloween goodies!) and today I'm sharing a card with a bit of a nod to fall. It's the colors and die cut choices that say fall to me and it was easy to achieve by die cutting with Scrapbook.com Paper Pads.

I borrowed her idea of using the Candlelight Colorize, the baseboard frame and the fall theme. I then added my own touch and style and by using the Funky Foliage dies along with a different color palette.
