Newton's Nook Designs April Release | Wedding Frills

Hello friends! Welcome to Day 2 of Newton's Nook Designs April Release! Today we're sharing a new set called Wedding Frills, along with it's coordinating die AND a gorgeous new stencil called Floral Lace. These new products are going to be perfect for creating both wedding and anniversary cards!

Trifold Stencil Embossed Wedding Card

I used these new products to create an elegant trifold stencil embossed wedding card. This would be a great design to use if you wanted to create custom wedding invitations. All you would need to do is type up the wedding details, print them and place them inside the card.

To get started creating this card, I cut 2 pieces of white cardstock to 6 x 8.5 inches and then scored them each at 3 inches.

Next, I took the Floral Lace Stencil and positioned it along the fold to embossed what will be one of the front flaps of the card.

I then ran it through my die cutting machine, following the instructions for my machine on how to emboss with a die or stencil. Here, the stencil is folded back to reveal the embossed image.

I repeated the embossing on the other piece of white cardstock, making sure to flip the stencil so I embossed the other half of the stencil on this side.

Next, I overlapped the large square sections of each piece and adhere them to make the trifold card. The embossed design will now be the visible as the flaps that you will open on the card.

To create the embellishments for the card, I stamped the images from the Wedding Frills Stamp Set onto white cardstock using Versamark Embossing Ink and heat embossed them using gold embossing powder. I then die cut them using the coordinating Wedding Frills die set. You will need to stamp and emboss 2 of the larger floral designs as well as the doily shape. I stamped the sentiment onto a die cut white circle (which is included in the Wedding Frills Die Set) and adhered it to the center of the doily shape.

To tie the card together, I wrapped a piece of sheer ribbon around the back side of the card. I then adhered one of the floral designs on top of the ribbon on the left flap of the card.  For the other floral design I adhered it directly onto the right flap.  Finally, I attached the doily and sentiment onto the left flap. I then tied the ribbon into a bow to close the card.  As you can see here, the opening inside would be perfect for inserting a piece of paper with the wedding details.

Here's a full look at the new stamps and dies being revealed today. All the new products will be available on Friday, May 20.

Newton's Nook Designs April Release | Newton's Graduation

Hello and welcome to Day 1 of Newton's Nook Designs April Release! We're starting off this first day with a new stamp set featuring Newton called Newton's Graduation. This set is just in time for all the graduations coming up soon. There is also a brand new alphabet die set called Essentials Alphabet that is sure to become a new staple in your card making and die collection.

Die Cut and Stamped Background | Graduation Card

To get started, I created the background design by stamping the graduation hats from Newton's Graduation stamp set in a light gray ink onto a piece of white cardstock.

I then took the Essentials Alphabet Die (I did not cut the die apart) and centered it on top of the stamped paper and ran it through my die cut machine. Don't you just love the unique texture and pattern it creates?!

To help hold all the letters and numbers in place I adhered a piece of Easy Cut Adhesive by Therm O Web to the back side of this piece.

Next, I stamped the adorable Newton with the globe and the graduation hat using Memento Ink in black. I then colored the images with Chameleon Pens and die cut them using the coordinating die set. For the sentiment I stamped it in black ink onto a banner die cut using the Frames & Flags Die Set. For the final touch, I tied on some black and white baker's twine!

Easter Treat Bag | Newton's Nook Designs

Hello Friends! Easter will be here soon and I for one am super excited that the Easter Candy is now available! My personal favorite are Reese's Easter Eggs and I've been known to hoard bags of them and eat on them for months after Easter has come and gone! Although Easter is about more than just the candy, it is fun to share these sweet treats with family and friends. While trying to think of a fun way to do this, I had a light bulb moment to create an Easter Treat Bag using Newton's Nook Designs Frames and Flags Die Set. And who doesn't love getting more out of their dies and using them in unexpected ways?! To learn how I created this Easter Treat Bag, keep reading for all the details!

To get started, die cut 2 scalloped frames using the large die from the Frames and Flags Die Set. Score each piece at 4 inches and fold along the score lines.

Overlap them slightly, making sure to line up the scallops, and adhere them together.

Next, die cut a panel using the smaller frame from the Frames and Flags Die Set. Dry Emboss it using the Cloudy Sky Stencil and your manual die cutting machine. (I use a Spellbinders Platinum 6 and just follow the instructions the come with the machine on how to layer the pieces and what platforms to use.) Apply Distress Oxide Ink using a foam blending tool to bring out the embossed design. Adhere this piece to the front of the treat bag and trim off the excess.

Layer on a piece of die cut grass using the grass die from the Lawn Borders Die Set. Stamp, color and die cut your image and adhere using double sided foam adhesive. For my Easter Treat Bag, I used one of the images from the Newton's Easter Basket Stamp Set.

Punch a 5/16 inch hole in the center top of the front of the treat bag. Die cut the tag hole using the Fancy Edges Tag Die Set from white cardstock and adhere over the punched hole.

Use a 1/8 inch punch to create 2 holes in the back of the treat bag. Thread a piece of ribbon through the holes.

Place your favorite candy, in my case it's Reese's Easter Eggs, in a cellophane bag and tie the ribbon around the bag to close it. Trim off any extra from the top of the bag.

Close the treat bag and thread the ribbon through the hole in the front of the treat bag. Thread the ribbon through a small tag with the sentiment and then tie a bow.

Your treat bag is now ready to give to friends and family as you celebrate Easter!

Newton's Nook Designs March Release | Birthday Essentials

Hello all and welcome to the final day of Newton's Nook March Release! If you can't tell, the theme this week has been all about birthdays and celebrations.  Today, we continue that theme with the new set called Birthday Essentials. This is a great set of scripty sentiments, similar to the super popular Sentiments of the Season that was released for Christmas cards.

Foiled Background

Along with the fun birthday theme each day this week, I decided to challenge myself to use the new stencils being released in a different way each day. So far, I've dry embossed, inked and used texture paste with glitter. Today, I went with a Foiled Background technique I've shared in a past post about Stenciled Backgrounds. I invite you to check out that post for the full tutorial and even more inspiration on how to use stencils. They are such a fun tool to play with when creating cards because of their versatility and all the different techniques you can use with them!

For this Birthday Card, I added a touch of shine using Therm O Web Transfer Gel, Deco Foil and Newton's Nook Designs Confetti Stencil. The Deco Foil I used on this card is called Summer Rainbow.

Once the foiled background was complete, I trimmed it to size and adhered it to the card front. I then wrapped a bit of sheer ribbon around the card front. The sentiment is from the Birthday Essentials stamp set and is heat embossed with white embossing powder. After I adhered it to the card front, I finished off the design with a small bow!

This is a rather quick and easy card to put together once the Transfer Gel dries. One tip I can share is that I like to do up several panels at once and put them to the side for future projects!
