Rainbow Cards | Therm O Web

There is a rainbow of hope at the end of every storm! With the rainbow of hope theme in mind, I'm sharing a set of Rainbow cards I created using some fabulous products from Therm O Web. This includes their new DecoFoil Transfer Duo Gel, Glitz Glitter Gel and Metallix Gel. I want to specifically thank Therm O Web for so kindly sending me some of these products to play with.

The first card I'm sharing uses the DecoFoil Transfer Duo Gel. This is similar to the original Transfer Gel in that it's made to use with Deco Foil. However, now you can transfer foil without the use of a laminator. Yes, you read that correctly! No laminator is needed. You can now simply use the pressure from a die cutting machine to transfer the foil.

Here I've used the Transfer Duo with a stencil. I laid stencil onto a piece of white cardstock and used Purple Tape to hold it in the place. Then using a palette knife I adhered the gel over the stencil, gently lifted the stencil and washed it immediately. I then set the paper to the side to dry. The gel goes on white, but dries clear and remains slightly tacky. I then placed a piece of Deco Foil Rainbow over the gelled area and ran it through my die cutting machine to transfer the foil. It left me with this beautiful rainbow design.

Now as anyone knows who's ever done any foiling, there is always that wasted foil. It always makes me sad to let it go to waste. Instead of letting that happen I decided to experiment a little. I took another piece of white cardstock and used a wide paint brush to paint the surface with a thin layer of Transfer Duo Gel, making sure to apply as even a coat as possible. Once it was dry, I laid the "wasted foil" on top and ran it through my die cutting machine and look what happened!

The foil that was left over, transferred to the paper. Although it wasn't as perfect of a transfer as the original, I kind of like how it has a bit of a distressed look to it! And...no foil was wasted in the process!

For my third card, I went rainbow wild with the gorgeous Glitz Glitter Gels! These literally come in a rainbow of colors which is what inspired me to apply the different colors of gel in a diagonal pattern over a stencil. Once I had the entire stencil covered, I gently lifted it off of the paper and washed it immediately.

I had a couple of areas, as you can see, where I applied too much gel and it went under the stencil. I decided to embrace the imperfections and love all the sparkly goodness no matter what!

With the continuation of the rainbow theme, my fourth card uses Pearl Metallix Gel. I applied it through a stencil and let it dry. It has a beautiful pearly sheen to it, that unfortunately is impossible to photograph. All I can do is ask that you take my word for it!

Once the gel was dry, I created a rainbow over the paper using Distress Oxide Inks. I then spritzed the paper with water and sprinkled on a bit of Gold Embossing Powder and heat set it with my heat gun. This card definitely has a great mixed media feel to it!

One final note on my set of Rainbow cards is the sentiment strip. For each one, I stamped the sentiment and then heat embossing it with gold embossing powder. I then layered this onto a strip of gold foiled Deco Foil Foam Adhesive. These are another great product to use to transfer foil that does not require a laminator. Simply peel off the liner on one side, lay a piece of foil silver side down and gently rub your finger over the foil to transfer it. Then peel off the transfer sheet to reveal your foiled shape. If you want the foiled foam strip to have more stability, simply adhered the other side of the foam strip to another strip of cardstock cut to the same size.

I hope you enjoyed the rainbow cards I shared with you today using these fabulous products from Therm O Web. Below you can find a complete list of the supplies I used.

Stencil and Foiled Backgrounds | Therm O Web & Newton's Nook Designs

Hello friends! I have some fun news for you. This week Newton's Nook Designs and Therm O Web are partnering for a fabulous week of inspiration! Each day both design teams will be sharing ways to add fun foils and more to your cards using Therm O Web products along with with Newton's Nook Designs products! There will also be some great prizes to win so keep reading to check out what I created and then learn how you can win.

Stencil and Foiled Backgrounds | Galaxy Background

I love the shimmer and shine Therm O Web Deco Foil adds to a project. Because of this, I couldn't resist combining Therm O Web's Deco Foil and Transfer Gel with some Newton's Nook Designs Stencils to create 2 fabulously fun backgrounds! For this first card, I used Newton's Nook Designs Starfield Stencil to create a fun Galaxy Background.

Never Stop Dreaming Card with Galaxy Background by Juliana Michaels featuring Therm O Web Deco Foil, Therm O Web Transfer Gel, Newton's Nook Designs Cosmic Newtons Stamp Set, Starfield Stencils and Ranger Ink Distress Oxide

To begin, place the stencil on top of a piece of white cardstock and use Therm O Web's fabulous new Purple Tape to hold it in place. Next, using a palette knife, spread a thin layer of Deco Foil Transfer Gel over the top. Gently peel up the stencil and wash it immediately to prevent the gel from drying on it. Place this paper piece to the side and allow the gel to dry.

Once the gel is dry, place a piece of Therm O Web Deco Foil on top of the paper and place this between a piece of folded parchment paper. Insert this entire piece into a laminator that has been preheated. I recommend allowing it to preheat for at least 30 minutes. The foil I used on this card is Therm O Web's brand new Silver Shattered Glass.

When the piece comes out of the backside of the laminator, allow it to cool and then peel back the transfer sheet to reveal the foiled design.

To complete the Galaxy Background, apply a mix of Distress Oxide Inks using an ink blending tool. For this card, I used Mermaid Lagoon, Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch and Black Soot.

I then completed the card design by added the ever adorable Newton peering through a telescope from the Cosmic Newton Stamp and Die Set.

Stencil and Foiled Backgrounds | Cloudy Sky Background

For this second card, I used Newton's Nook Designs Cloudy Sky Stencil. Use the same technique as described above, but foil this design using Therm O Web's Lapis Watercolor Deco Foil.

To add to the blue sky, ink blend some Distress Oxide Ink in Faded Jeans and Mermaid Lagoon onto the background.

I then finished off the design with a sentiment and image from Newton's Rainy Day Stamp and Die Set.

Inspiration | Butterfly Hope Card

Now, I want to share a bit of inspiration with you using some of these great new products.

Butterfly Hope Card by Juliana Michaels featuring Therm O Web Gina K Designs Butterfly Wishes Stamp and Die Set and coordinating Butterfly Wishes Foil Mates

First off, I began with the Foil Mates Detail Sheets and stamped over the butterflies, flowers and leaves using the solid stamp images.  The flowers and leaves are part of the Where Flowers Bloom Foil Mates and the butterflies are from the Butterfly Kisses Foil Mates

The next step was to die cut the butterflies, flowers and leaves using the coordinating dies. I used the new Therm O Web Purple Tape to help hold the dies in place as I ran them through my die cut machine. This new tape is perfect for holding die in place when die cutting!

Die Cutting with Therm O Web Purple Tape Gina K Designs Butterfly Wishes Stamp and Die Set

Once the die cutting was complete, I selected coordinating Fancy Foils and foiled each of the images. To foil the images, I trimmed a piece of Fancy Foil to the size of the die cut image. I then placed the foil on top of the image and placed this into a piece of folded parchment paper. To make the die cut/foil piece more sturdy as it goes through the laminator, I recommend also placing a piece of cardstock inside the folded parchment paper as well.

Hope Card by Juliana Michaels featuring Therm O Web Gina K Designs Butterfly Wishes Stamp and Die Set and coordinating Butterfly Wishes Foil Mates

Once the foiling was complete, I assembled the elements on to the card front. To give the butterflies a bit of dimension, I popped them up using Therm O Web Foam Squares.

The final touch was the addition of some sequins. I adhered them with Zots Bling! These are my favorite adhesive for using with sequins. Quick and easy and no glue squishing out onto your card!

One last detail about the card...the sentiment is from the Where You Bloom Stamp Set. I stamped it onto a piece of white cardstock die cut using the Gina K Designs Single Stitched Circle Dies.
