Stencil and Foiled Backgrounds | Therm O Web & Newton's Nook Designs

Hello friends! I have some fun news for you. This week Newton's Nook Designs and Therm O Web are partnering for a fabulous week of inspiration! Each day both design teams will be sharing ways to add fun foils and more to your cards using Therm O Web products along with with Newton's Nook Designs products! There will also be some great prizes to win so keep reading to check out what I created and then learn how you can win.

Stencil and Foiled Backgrounds | Galaxy Background

I love the shimmer and shine Therm O Web Deco Foil adds to a project. Because of this, I couldn't resist combining Therm O Web's Deco Foil and Transfer Gel with some Newton's Nook Designs Stencils to create 2 fabulously fun backgrounds! For this first card, I used Newton's Nook Designs Starfield Stencil to create a fun Galaxy Background.

To begin, place the stencil on top of a piece of white cardstock and use Therm O Web's fabulous new Purple Tape to hold it in place. Next, using a palette knife, spread a thin layer of Deco Foil Transfer Gel over the top. Gently peel up the stencil and wash it immediately to prevent the gel from drying on it. Place this paper piece to the side and allow the gel to dry.

Once the gel is dry, place a piece of Therm O Web Deco Foil on top of the paper and place this between a piece of folded parchment paper. Insert this entire piece into a laminator that has been preheated. I recommend allowing it to preheat for at least 30 minutes. The foil I used on this card is Therm O Web's brand new Silver Shattered Glass.

When the piece comes out of the backside of the laminator, allow it to cool and then peel back the transfer sheet to reveal the foiled design.

To complete the Galaxy Background, apply a mix of Distress Oxide Inks using an ink blending tool. For this card, I used Mermaid Lagoon, Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch and Black Soot.

I then completed the card design by added the ever adorable Newton peering through a telescope from the Cosmic Newton Stamp and Die Set.

Stencil and Foiled Backgrounds | Cloudy Sky Background

For this second card, I used Newton's Nook Designs Cloudy Sky Stencil. Use the same technique as described above, but foil this design using Therm O Web's Lapis Watercolor Deco Foil.

To add to the blue sky, ink blend some Distress Oxide Ink in Faded Jeans and Mermaid Lagoon onto the background.

I then finished off the design with a sentiment and image from Newton's Rainy Day Stamp and Die Set.

    1. All you have to do is wipe away the excess ink with a paper towel. 😊
