S'mores and Recycling?!

Who says 2 good things can't come together?! Not me anyway! I just wish I had the ingredients at this moment! S'mores sure do sound good right about now!!!
Our assignment for the Bo Bunny blog today was to reduce, reuse and recycle and I did just that using a Blue Bunny ice cream container! And make sure you stop by the blog to see what the other gals created! They are all so clever and creative!!!
Some of you may have noticed that I altered one of these in the past, (you can see it HERE) but I really love them! They are the perfect size for so many things and just a little hint, but I will be sharing a couple more with you very soon! The 4th of July is coming up and my Mom requested a couple to use for our family get together this weekend! I am working on them today and hope to have to completed soon!
A couple of close up shots! I really don't think the photos do it justice sometimes with altered art...
I used a Cuttlebug embossing template on the letters and it worked fabulous! After they were embossed I lightly rubbed a Cat's Eye ink pad over them to give the dots and the edges of the letters a bit more color!
Once again, thanks for stopping by and if you have any questions about this project or any project I create, just ask!

Happy Hugs!

Homespun Trio!!!

I am going to share with you today how to create your own little mini photos frames using the Homespun Chic Layered Frames. The completed project is quick and easy to put together! Plus, they would make a perfect gift for that someone special!
Here are my completed and embellished frames!
Now let me show you how I created these little lovelies!

Instructions:
First select the frames you want to work. (I choose these three frames.)
A tip before starting: Remove the paper backing to reveal the adhesive on each of the frames. Lightly sprinkle them with baby powder to remove the stickiness.

............................................................................
Take a piece of scrap chipboard and cut a back and a stand for each frame. Use a bone folder or other such tool, to score the chipboard a 1/2 inch from the end for each of the stand pieces.
...........................................................................

Back: 2.75 x 3.25 inches
Stand: 1.75 x 3 inches
Back: 3 x 2.75 inches
Stand: 1.75 x 3 inches
Back: 2.25 x 2.25 inches
Stand: 1.75 x 2.75 inches
Cover the front and back of each piece of chipboard with a coordinating pattern paper.
Cut thin strips of double sided foam tape and run it along 3 sides of the back piece. This will leave an opening on one end that will allow you to insert a photo into the frame if you would like to.
Remove the tape and adhere this to the back side of the frame.
Remember to keep the side with no tape at the top!
The back side...
...and the front side!
Adhere the stand to the back of the frame.
Complete each frame by adding the embellishments of your choice!

Here are some close up images of how I embellished my frames.
For the chipboard shapes: Adhere patterned paper to the chipboard piece. Cut around them and then sand the edges. Add Stickles and a gem for extra sparkle and shine!
For the flowers: Layer the fabric brad with the felt flowers for a quick and easy flower embellishment!
Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Homespun Chic Collection Pink Sparkle Glitter and Homespun Chic Collection 8 x 8 Specialty Paper Pad
Embellishments: Homespun Chic Collection Layered Frames, Homespun Chic Collection Fabric Brads
Chip Art - Chipboard Shapes: Butterflies and Birds

Other: Stickles by Ranger, Gems by Me & My Big Ideas and Kaiser Craft, Felt Flowers by Stampin' Up!, Double sided foam tape by 3M

It's Your Day!!!

Happy Wednesday everyone and thanks for stopping by! My vacation was fabulous, but now I am back to the reality of everyday life. I have been busy catching up on things mostly scrappy related after being gone for a week. I have been doing a little creating and I had a wonderful box from Bo Bunny waiting for me when I got home! If you haven't seen the latest release, you must check them out! I am head over heels in love with Sun Kissed and Peacock Lane!
Ok! Back to daily life...I have got to start working out again! I have started feeling fat and lazy lately! I know I am not fat, but I feel that way right now! Do you think it might have anything to do with just being on vakay and eating like a pig?! LOL!!! Speaking of eating, we found the best cherry pies EVER while on our trip. It was a little place called The Cherry Hut! If you are ever in the area, you MUST go there and eat some of this pie. It is as good as any grandma's pie out there! So good in fact, that we went there 2 days in a row to get a fresh pie to take back to our place for dessert! So, now you can maybe understand why I am feeling a bit fat?! LOL!!!
OK! So,on to some scrappy news! Today I have a stamping tutorial on the Bo Bunny blog that shares a fun technique using plastic wrap! Are you intrigued?! If so, make sure to stop by the blog to check it out! Here is the card I created using the technique. I shared a sneak of it during the most recent Bo Bunny Blog Hop and a few of you shared your ideas on what you thought it might be and some of them where quite clever!

I hope you all are having a great week! And I plan on starting to work out again this week! Wish me the best!!! I am not a morning person!!!

Thanks again for stopping by!

I want to thank each of you for all the wonderful things you have done for me, for all the little things and the big things, but most importantly for being there for me and for being you! I love you both so very much!!!
Happy Fathers Day!!!

Go Fly a Kite!!!

We had a fabulous inspiration piece for this month! Don't you agree? I was most definitely inspired by the blue skies and the fluffy white clouds!

Here is my take...

...on this photo collage!

I just love the dimensional feel to the kites and the clouds!
I started by sketching out my design and then drawing out the clouds on the patterned paper. I cut the kites out of the patterned paper and folded them to create the creases. I then popped them up using double sided foam adhesive.
But what about those fluffy clouds you ask?!

To create the fluffy clouds I cut out 2 of the same shape for each cloud. I used my sewing machine to straight stitch around the edges leaving a small opening on one end. I then stuffed pillow stuffing inside the paper cloud pillow and then sewed that end closed. I adhere them with a small amount of hot glue from my hot glue gun! Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Lydia Collection Petit Floral Glitter, Lydia Collection Sky Brocade, Smoothie Shoppe Collection Ice Cubes

does it get any better than this?

The pure joy and excitement of a 4 year old playing in the waves on the shore! My nieces have been having a blast, but today they were a tad bit worn out and are in much need of a good nights sleep and a day of more calm activity!
Vacation is going well despite the fact that it hasn't been quite warm enough for me...I prefer 80-90's and being able to sit out on the beach in shorts and a T-shirt instead of jeans and sweatshirts, but at least we are near the water! It is really gorgeous here and very relaxing! The water always calms me...the sound of the water hitting the shore is one of my favorite things to listen to and I prefer it to be a part of any vacation we take during the summer. I just wish we had the sunshine and warm temperatures to go with it! That would make it all even more better!!!

I was actually lucky enough to get to a Michaels today and I finally got the little butterfly trio punch from Martha Stewart! I would have gotten the lace doilies, but my dear friend Sarah is getting them for me!!! I had no idea I would be anywhere near a Michaels while on this vacation, but it was enjoyable to spend some time there browsing.

Tomorrow we plan to hit the beach and maybe head south a bit. I still want to stop by the Gwen Frostic studio and check out some of the local artists in the area as well. So many things on the list do yet!

I went shopping!!!

Yes, I went shopping! I went out and spoiled myself a bit today! I went shopping at Kohl's. Originally I was going to look for flip flops and maybe a top. But then one thing led to another and I ended up with 2 outfits and coordinating jewelry!!! This might be no big deal to some of you, but for me, this is a BIG deal! I rarely go shopping for clothes. In fact, I'll tell you a little secret...I don't really enjoy it much. But every now and then I get in the mood to shop and today happened to be one of those days. Now I will share with you that there are some limitations to it...one being (and really it is the only one!) if I don't find something that fits me in the first group of clothing that I take into the dressing room then I am usually done with it. I get frustrated with it, if things don't fit. Which they usually don't since I am really hard to fit when it comes to pants and I am very picky about my tops. I was amazed today when everything but 1 top fit me! In fact I was shocked! It was like it was all meant to be!!! So, now I have 2 sassy new outfits with coordinating jewelry and everything! And I am feeling a bit sassy!!! And...I am loving all the purple!!! This is one of the shirts I got, but the one I got is purple instead of black & white. They just didn't have an image of the shirt I got on their website! But you get the idea!

And before I sign off...because of course I can't have a post without some bit of scrappy news to share! I wanted to let you all know to that there is a new Jillibean Soup blinkie to be had and Jill is "spotting" for them this weekend! So check out all the details and grab your new blinkie HERE! You never know, you might be the one "spotted" by Jill and win a fabulous prize pack from Jillibean Soup! So get going and get it up on your blog!!!
