BoBunny Baby Bump Cards

I have a quick share today. These are a couple of cards I created for BoBunny using their new and one of my new most favorite ever collections...Baby Bump! Yes, I know it is a baby themed collection, but the colors and patterns on many of the papers are perfect for so much more than babies. With that being said, I couldn't resist creating a couple of baby cards with the collection and I wanted to share them with you.

If you are interested in seeing more photos of my It's A Girl and It's A Boy cards and other ideas using the Baby Bump collection then head on over to the BoBunny blog and be inspired!

Elle's Studio Hugs and Kisses

Hugs and Kisses indeed! I love this photo of my sister and her two girls! It makes my heart sing for sure and it was the perfect photo to pair with these cut out sentiments from the Elle's Studio Love You More collection. I was inspired to create this scrapbook page using the Creative Scrappers Sketch 259. I have always loved Kristine's sketches and it was fun to have time to play with one as I was creating.

The wood veneer pieces are some of my favorites and they are part of the Love You More collection as well.

Patriotic Clip Frame Using Pebbles Inc Journaling Cards

I don't know about you, but when I think about Journaling Cards, I think scrapbook pages. When I was asked to create a project for the Pebbles blog using them, I decided to challenge myself to use them for something other than a scrapbook page or card. Although, what I was going to do with them was not so clear. While out shopping recently, I came across a Clip Frame at Pier 1 and I knew what I wanted to do.

My first take on this clip frame is up on the Pebbles blog today as a Hello Spring Frame using their new Garden Party collection and Journaling Cards. That version will definitely be hanging on my wall over the next few months to help celebrate Spring. While I was at it, I decided to make another version of it using another of their new collections called Americana.  To create the frames, I removed the clothespins that came with the frame and replaced them with the coordinating clothespins that came the Americana line. Then I selected and embellished some of the journaling cards to fill each of the openings. This one will make it's debut on my walls in May for Memorial Day and will be good through the 4th of July!

These Pinwheel Stickers that are part of this collection are so fun! They have so much dimension and the foam adhesive on the back side make them a snap to add to your projects.

I also used the Americana Cardstock Die Cuts to embellish the Journaling Cards.

Today I Kissed A Fish

Yes, I kissed a fish! A big one too! But there is a reason for that kiss. This past summer I had the opportunity to going deep sea fishing, which is something that has been on my bucket list for years. When I was out fishing I was content to be fishing, but then I caught an 8 foot, 100 lb Sailfish and bucket list item number 2 was achieved! The photos are of me with my fish once we got back to shore and of course I had to create a scrapbook page with them.

I shared some other layouts from the trip this past fall (Bucket List x 2 and Working Together using the BoBunny Zip-A-Dee-Doodle collection) and I plan on creating an entire album filled with photos and memories of this awesome trip.

To create this layout, I used a mix of Elle's Studio, American Crafts and Pink Paislee. I thought the "Rock Star" title was perfect for how I felt that day when I caught that fish!

Doily Scrapbook Background and Converted Chipboard Tutorial

I have a scrapbook page up on the BoBunny blog today called "Game Time". It is one of my new faves for multiple reasons. The first reason is the photo I used. It is a photo of my dear friend Carrie Anne, who got me started scrapbooking over 15 years ago, and her daughter.

The bold and funky Head Over Heels collection by BoBunny that I used to create it is my second reason. I just love this collection and it has been such a blast to create with.

My third and final reason, is the theme we had to work with this week...trends! We had a list of popular trends to choose from and use on our layout. I choose to incorporate doilies and gold. If you want to see the full scrapbook page, make sure you visit the BoBunny blog. While you're there, take some time to check out how the rest of the BoBunny Design Team is incorporating the latest trends into their scrapbook pages and other projects. I'm sure you will be inspired!

Today, I want to share a short tutorial with you on how I integrated these two trends, doilies and gold, into my layout.

Doily Scrapbook Background and Converted Chipboard Tutorial

TUTORIAL | DOILY SCRAPBOOK BACKGROUND AND CONVERTED CHIPBOARD

Doily Scrapbook Background Tutorial

Begin by selecting several different sizes of doilies. I used one 8.5", two 6.5" and two 4" BoBunny Doilies. Position them on your background paper and adhere with adhesive.

Doily Scrapbook Background Tutorial

Trim off the excess parts of the doilies that are hanging over the edge of your background paper.

Doily Scrapbook Background Tutorial

Take the extra parts of the doilies that you cut off and position them to fill in any gaps or large openings. Again, trim off any excess that doesn't fit on your paper.

Converted Chipboard Tutorial

To repurpose the chipboard, select various pieces from the BoBunny Head Over Heels 12 x 12 Chipboard and color them with a Krylon Gold Leafing Pen. This is such a simple technique and the paint from this pen dries really fast, so your wait time is nothing at all.

Converted Chipboard Tutorial

Next, cut a strip of scrap paper to make a base for your banner and adhere some of the unaltered chipboard and new gold chipboard pieces to it. Once you have positioned the pieces as you like, then adhere the banner strip to your layout.

3 Birds Studio Thank You Card

Hello and thank you for stopping by! The Thank You card I am sharing with you today was created using the 3 Birds Studio Graceful Season collection. I used scraps from my recent "Celebrate" scrapbook page to create it and another card that is up on the 3 Birds Studio Blog. To keep it simple, I copied the design of this card from the other card but I mixed it up by using different papers and a different sentiment. I hope you will visit the 3 Birds Studio Blog to see my other card and let me know what you think of them!

You Hold My Heart and Love Mini Cards

Happy Valentine's Day! I'm pretty sure that I could never get tired of making Valentine's cards from the Pebbles Inc Yours Truly collection. I seriously LOVE this collection!!! Today, I have two more cards I created using this collection. If you remember, I also created a set of Mini Valentine's recently using this collection. This collection is good for more than just cards though, I also used it to create this Love Birds Frame as well as a couple scrapbook layouts, Love Letters and Made With Love.

Both of these cards were created using a combination of the 12 x 12 paper and 6 x 6 paper pad and they were both made using scraps from other projects. I always find that using the left overs and scraps from other projects to be the easiest way for me to create a card. It keeps me from stressing about cutting into a full sheet of paper that I might want for a scrapbook page.

I used the same technique to create the central embellishment on each card. I took one of the Yours Truly Repeat Scallop Stickers and then dressed it up by adhering a Yours Truly Dimensional Sticker to the center of it with a foam dot.  This is such a quick and easy way to customize the already fabulous stickers that come with this collection.

Dollar Tree Trays, Chalkboard Paint, Vinyl and What I Love Free Digital Cut File

This past fall I helped out a friend at an arts and craft fair. I was so inspired by these retro and vintage trays that she had turned into adorable pieces of art. This idea has been on my mind since then and I have been wanting to take this idea and add my own spin to it. I recently came across some small silver trays at my local Dollar Tree and I immediately thought of those re-purposed trays from the fair. These seemed like the perfect ones to "test drive", so I bought one of each and took them home to play.

Dollar Tree Silver Trays

Now that I had my trays, I wanted to transform them. She had spray painted hers, but as most of you know, this winter has not been warm, so spray painting was out of the question. I had to come up with a different option.

Sanding the surface of the tray

1.  The first thing you must do before painting metal is treat the surface to help make the paint stick. To do this, I lightly sanded the surfaces of each tray with a fine grit foam sanding block from my local hardware store. After you are finished sanding, brush or wipe off the dust before you proceed with the next step.

Painting tray with white acrylic gesso
2. After you have sanded the surface you need to further prime the surface to help the paint stick. I used a paint brush and applied a layer of white acrylic gesso and let it dry.

Painting tray with black chalkboard paint
3.  Next, I painted the entire tray with black chalkboard paint following the instructions on the bottle of paint. I applied 2 coats going in opposite directions and allowing the paint to dry between coats. Obviously, if I had been able to use spray paint I wouldn't have had to worry about brush strokes. I didn't have the choice to use spray paint because the temperatures were way below freezing here and spray paint must be used outside with good ventilation and it will freeze coming out of the can if you use it in cold temperatures. With all this being said, I ended up really liking how the paint job turned out and I think the brush strokes add a little character to the painted tray.

Applying chalk to painted tray
4. Once the paint was completely dry, I continued following the instructions for the chalkboard paint and applied chalk over the entire painted surface.

Removing excess chalk from tray
5. The final step was to wipe off the excess chalk with a rag. Repeat the above steps on all of your trays.

FREE DIGITAL CUT FILE | WHAT I LOVE

After I had painted all three trays, I was ready to continue playing. You may not be aware, but SRM Stickers released a line of Adhesive Vinyl in tons of great colors at the recent CHA Winter Trade Show and Conference. I knew this new product would be the perfect thing to dress up my newly painted trays. I decided to design a set of digital cut files for use with my Silhouette Cameo with a theme around loving my home.  I created this FREE digital cut file that you can download and use to create your own set of trays or to use for other craft projects. You can cut these images from vinyl, stencil material, cardstock or even patterned paper and they can be used for a full range of projects, including cards, home decor and scrapbook pages. This digital file is available in both SVG, PNG and Studio formats and you may download this digital cut file for FREE for your own personal use. Please refer to my terms of use for more information.

Love You More Valentine's Card Set

I have fallen head over heels in love with the Elle's Studio Love You More collection. I recently created this set of cards using it for the Elle's Studio February Design Team Gallery. I started off by taking one of the 3x4 cards from the Journaling Tags set and layering die cut vellum hearts and tags from the Bits and Pieces set. To finished them off, I added a Wood Veneer piece, a tiny wooden clothespin and jute. It made for a repeatable recipe of sorts to help with creating each of the cards in a simple and quick time frame.

They also have an exclusive Digital Cut File that coordinates perfectly with this kit as well.

The layout I have created to share with you today is part of the Elle's Studio February Inspiration Gallery. However, the star for me is the photo of my niece with her first American Girl doll!

These are just a few of the fabulous wood veneers in this kit. I love how they coordinate with the Love You More collection too!!!

A fun technique I have to share is that I used my Silhouette Cameo and Sketch Pens to do my journaling! This is my first attempt at it and I love the results. I even used my Silhouette to cut the journaling strips, which made it all so quick and easy. I found this tutorial on the Silhouette blog by Caroline Davis that explains how to do this. I used a similar method, but I didn't used the sketch pens do anything more than my journaling.
