Coffee Cup Shaker Card

To get started, I die cut all the pieces to create the shaker card. I die cut the shaker frame and coffee cup topper from Double Sided Adhesive Foam available from Newton's Nook Designs.
I cut the coffee cup card, shaker frame and coffee cup topper from white cardstock. I cut the coffee cup wrapper from kraft cardstock. I also cut a piece of Acetate Sheet available from Newton's Nook Designs to cover the shaker box.

To add some texture and interest to the inside of the shaker box, I decided to do a little dry embossing. I used a piece of Therm O Web Purple Tape to hold the Newton's Nook Designs Tumbling Hearts Stencil in place on the the front of the coffee cup card base. I then ran this through my die cut machine following the directions to embossing with a stencil/die.

I always love subtle texture this adds to a card. To help the design pop more, I ink blended some Distress Oxide Ink in Picked Raspberry onto the paper. I then went about assembling the shaker card.

After adhering the foam pieces to the card front, I filled the shaker box with some sequins. I then attached the piece of acetate to cover the box and hold the sequins in place.

I then added a white die cut frame to the front of the shaker. Next, comes the stamping!

To embellish the wrapper, I stamped the cat, coffee cup and hearts from the Newton's Nook Designs Sending Hugs Stamp Set with Memento Ink onto white cardstock and then colored them with Chameleon Pens. I then die cut the images using the coordinating Sending Hugs Die Set. I stamped the "Sending Hugs" sentiment from the Newton's Nook Designs Sending Hugs Stamp Set with Versafine Onyx Black Ink onto the kraft cardstock wrapper.

To complete the card, I stamped the "You're the Cream in my coffee" sentiment on the inside of the card. This sentiment is from the Newton Loves Coffee Stamp Set.

NEW RSS FEED

Did you used to receive my blog posts via email? Do you miss getting those emails packed with inspiration and ideas? If so, I ask that you subscribe to my blog's NEW RSS Feed.

I used to use Mad Mimi as my RSS Feed however, a couple of months ago I reached the maximum number of subscribers for their free plan and I can no longer send out my blog posts through them without paying $27 dollars a month. I don't know about you, but that is a lot of money that could be spent on more crafty supplies and I have a budget to stick to.  I really loved Mad Mimi and how great their emails looked, but again, I have a budget to stick to.  So....if you're interested in receiving my blog posts again, I would love for you to sign up HERE. I'm going back to Bloggers Feedburner in hopes of being able to reach you all again. I miss you all bunches!

Newton's Nook Designs April Release | Little Lilies and April Showers

Hello friends! Welcome to Day 4 of Newton's Nook Designs April Release! This is our final release day and tomorrow all of the new sets will be available in the Newton's Nook Store. Today we have two stamp sets to share with you called Little Lilies and April Showers Stamp Sets along with their coordinating die sets.

April Showers Card

For my first card, I'm sharing what I created using the April Showers Stamp Set. I stamped the main sentiment with Versamark Embossing Ink onto a tag cut from cardstock using the Fancy Edges Tag Die Set. I then heat embossed it with white embossing powder.

Using the Umbrella Pals Die Set, I cut out the adorable umbrellas from various colors of cardstock. I just love how the Umbrella Pals die set comes with this stand alone die that can be used on its own!

I then adhered all the pieces to the background paper and added a little bow to the tag to finish off the design.

Thinking Of You Card

For my second card today, I'm sharing some inspiration using the Little Lilies Stamp Set.  I've always loved this flower. My birthday is in May and this is my birth month flower!

I went with a rather clean and simple card design for this one. I stamped the image onto a piece of white cardstock and then colored it with Chameleon Pens. I then used a die from the Frames & Flags Die Set to cut out the frame.

To complete the card, I layered the main piece onto a banner cut from kraft cardstock using a die from the Frames & Flags Die Set. I then layered all of this onto a piece of patterned paper and adhered it to the card base. Again, a rather simple design, but I love how crisp and clean it looks!

Newton's Nook Designs April Release | Umbrella Pals

Hello friends! Welcome to Day 3 of Newton's Nook Designs April Release! Today we're sharing a new set called Umbrella Pals and it's coordinating die. These adorable umbrella's are just perfect for putting a smile on your face!

Umbrella Card with Cloud Die Masked Background

Umbrella Card with Cloud Die Masked Background by Juliana Michaels featuring Newton's Nook Design Umbrella Pals Stamp Set

To create the background, I die cut a piece of cardstock using the cloud border die from the Sky Borders Die Set. I then used it as a mask to create the cloudy sky. I began at the bottom and lightly inked the clouds with Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass. I recommend stamping off the ink before applying it the the paper to avoid applying too much ink. You can always add more! I then continued moving the the mask up the card, offsetting it as I inked each section.

Once the background was complete, I stamped several of the adorable Umbrella Pal images onto watercolor paper with Versafine Ink. I then embossed it with clear embossing powder. Next, I colored in each image using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I thought watercolor markers would be perfect for the theme of this card!

For the sentiment piece, I die cut a banner using a die from the Flags and Frames Die Set. I then stamped the sentiment with Versafine onto it and then heat embossed it with white embossing powder.

To complete the card, I die cut a frame using the Flags and Frames Die Set and embossed it with the a polka dot embossing folder. I then adhered the images using double sided foam tape for a bit of dimension.

Newton's Nook Designs April Release | Wedding Frills

Hello friends! Welcome to Day 2 of Newton's Nook Designs April Release! Today we're sharing a new set called Wedding Frills, along with it's coordinating die AND a gorgeous new stencil called Floral Lace. These new products are going to be perfect for creating both wedding and anniversary cards!

Trifold Stencil Embossed Wedding Card

I used these new products to create an elegant trifold stencil embossed wedding card. This would be a great design to use if you wanted to create custom wedding invitations. All you would need to do is type up the wedding details, print them and place them inside the card.

To get started creating this card, I cut 2 pieces of white cardstock to 6 x 8.5 inches and then scored them each at 3 inches.

Next, I took the Floral Lace Stencil and positioned it along the fold to embossed what will be one of the front flaps of the card.

I then ran it through my die cutting machine, following the instructions for my machine on how to emboss with a die or stencil. Here, the stencil is folded back to reveal the embossed image.

I repeated the embossing on the other piece of white cardstock, making sure to flip the stencil so I embossed the other half of the stencil on this side.

Next, I overlapped the large square sections of each piece and adhere them to make the trifold card. The embossed design will now be the visible as the flaps that you will open on the card.

To create the embellishments for the card, I stamped the images from the Wedding Frills Stamp Set onto white cardstock using Versamark Embossing Ink and heat embossed them using gold embossing powder. I then die cut them using the coordinating Wedding Frills die set. You will need to stamp and emboss 2 of the larger floral designs as well as the doily shape. I stamped the sentiment onto a die cut white circle (which is included in the Wedding Frills Die Set) and adhered it to the center of the doily shape.

To tie the card together, I wrapped a piece of sheer ribbon around the back side of the card. I then adhered one of the floral designs on top of the ribbon on the left flap of the card.  For the other floral design I adhered it directly onto the right flap.  Finally, I attached the doily and sentiment onto the left flap. I then tied the ribbon into a bow to close the card.  As you can see here, the opening inside would be perfect for inserting a piece of paper with the wedding details.

Newton's Nook Designs April Release | Newton's Graduation

Hello and welcome to Day 1 of Newton's Nook Designs April Release! We're starting off this first day with a new stamp set featuring Newton called Newton's Graduation. This set is just in time for all the graduations coming up soon. There is also a brand new alphabet die set called Essentials Alphabet that is sure to become a new staple in your card making and die collection.

Die Cut and Stamped Background | Graduation Card

To get started, I created the background design by stamping the graduation hats from Newton's Graduation stamp set in a light gray ink onto a piece of white cardstock.

I then took the Essentials Alphabet Die (I did not cut the die apart) and centered it on top of the stamped paper and ran it through my die cut machine. Don't you just love the unique texture and pattern it creates?!

To help hold all the letters and numbers in place I adhered a piece of Easy Cut Adhesive by Therm O Web to the back side of this piece.

Next, I stamped the adorable Newton with the globe and the graduation hat using Memento Ink in black. I then colored the images with Chameleon Pens and die cut them using the coordinating die set. For the sentiment I stamped it in black ink onto a banner die cut using the Frames & Flags Die Set. For the final touch, I tied on some black and white baker's twine!
