Leaky Shed Studio Guest | Playing With Chipboard

Hello friends! Just a quick post today to let you know that I'm guesting on the Leaky Shed Studio blog today with a winter scrapbook page that I created of our sweet Milo playing in the snow last Winter. I invite you to stop by the Leaky Shed Studio blog and check out the full layout. For now, here's a little peek to entice you!

Leaky Shed Studio Guest Design Post

On the layout above, I used the Snowflake Border Large. It is 11 inches long and was too big for my page, so I trimmed off one of the snowflakes and used it on another layout. Below you can see the other winter scrapbook page that I created using the "extra" snowflake along with theSix Snowflakes Set.

To embellish the snowflakes on this page, I painted them with white acrylic paint and then added BoBunny's Silver Glitter Paste. The glitter paste was perfect for adding a subtle touch of sparkle and shine to the snowflakes!

Handmade Christmas Ornaments | BoBunny & Leaky Shed Studio

I love making handmade Christmas Ornaments! How about you? This month BoBunny is doing a product swap with Leaky Shed Studio Chipboard and one of the chipboard sets I received was the Victorian Oval Frames.  When I first saw this set, I immediately wanted to transform them into Christmas ornaments using the new BoBunny Christmas Collage collection.

I began by spraying the chipboard frames with the Bronze BoBunny's Glimmer Spray. I then used the frame to trace a piece of patterned paper to fit the inside of the frame. I cut the paper slightly larger than the opening and then adhered it to the backside of the frame. To decorate each of the ornaments I layered on various pieces from the Christmas Collage collection including the layered chipboard, chipboard and brads.

The holly leaf clusters where die cut from Evergreen BoBunny Double Dot cardstock and I then spritzed them with the Bronze Glimmer Spray. The new Double Dot Jewels worked perfectly for the berries!

If you love chipboard, then I invite you to visit the BoBunny and the Leaky Shed Studio blog's for loads of inspiration and ideas. And both BoBunny and Leaky Shed have some great GIVEAWAYS going on during this product swap so make sure you check them out for your chance to win!

I also want to invite you to take a look at the other project that I created for the Leaky Shed Studio and BoBunny Product Swap. It's a winter layout using the sketch for BoBunny's December Sketch Challenge and the new Altitude collection. I had a great time altering the Leaky Shed chipboard using BoBunny's Glimmer Paste!

Hello Spring Scrapbook Page

I don't know about you, but I can't wait for spring and warmer weather to arrive! Here on the North Coast, things are still quite cold...at least for this Southeast Missouri native! I'm longing for 70 degrees!!! To help me stay warm and get in the mood for spring, I have been spending time indoors and creating scrapbook pages with the Garden Party collection from Pebbles. I recently created this Hello Spring scrapbook page using some 3.5 x 5" photos that I took of the plants and trees in full bloom last year in our backyard.

Hello Spring Scrapbook Page by Juliana Michaels using Pebbles Garden Party and Leaky Shed Studio Chipboard Butterfly on Garden Sprig

Something fun that I haven't done in a while is to journal directly on a photo. To do this, I used an American Crafts Slick Writer in black. It writes so smooth! I'm pretty sure that I've found my new favorite journal pen for slick surfaces!

Journaling on Photo with American Crafts Slick Writer Black

I used a combination of the Garden Party Thickers and Garden Party Cardstock Stickers. Aren't those pink glitter letters fabulous?!

As an added embellishment to the page, I took the Butterfly on Garden Sprig chipboard piece from Leaky Shed Studio and painted it with acrylic paint. I painted the butterfly pink and the sprig green. Once dry, I added pink glitter to the butterfly. The flowers are asterisks from the Garden Party Thickers. This was maybe not there intended purpose, but they worked perfectly if you ask me!

Cherub's Heart Valentine's Card

Happy early Valentine's Day!!! Today, I have a Valentine's Day card to share with you that I created using the sweet Cherub's Heart chipboard piece by Leaky Shed Studio and the super fun Head Over Heels collection by BoBunny. The colors combination in the Head Over Heels collection inspired me to paint the chipboard black. Painting your chipboard with acrylic paint is always an easy way to customize them. The contrast of the black painted cherub's against the Layered Sticker and gold doily really makes the whole thing pop!

I also have another Valentine's Day card up on the Leaky Shed Studio blog today that showcases the Modern Double Hearts chipboard. Stop by and check it out! (All you have to do is click on the words Leaky Shed Studio.)

The pink behind the heart is from the packaging of some Elle's Studio die cuts. I adhered the chipboard piece to the paper packaging with liquid adhesive. Once dry, I trimmed away the excess. Next, I removed the small hearts from the center of the Layered Sticker by Crate Paper and attached the Cherub's Heart piece and then I reattached the "love" heart. The entire piece was then attached on top of a gold doily before I adhered it to the front of my card.

Sprinkle silver embossing powder onto the snowflake.

Pick up and hold the embossing powder covered snowflake with a pair of tweezers, etc that have heat resistant handles so that you do not burn your fingers. I use a hemostat with heat resistant handles.

Silver Snowflakes Chipboard Tutorial by Juliana Michaels

Use a heat gun to melt the embossing powder. Remember to hold the heat tool about 6" away from your piece. Sweep the heat tool over the image and don't hold it in one spot for too long. As the embossing powder melts, it will become more smooth and dimensional. If you overheat the powder, it will bubble and could burn the chipboard.

Friends Forever Memories Scrapbook Page

The Penelope collection by Elle's Studio, which they released during CHA Summer 2013 was love at first sight for me. The color combination is what caught my attention because of the color purple that is sprinkled throughout the collection. Purple has long been one of my favorite colors and to have it used in such a fabulous collection made me do a little scrappy happy dance! It was also one of those collections that said "I know what photos I want to scrap with this!" I have to be honest and tell you that I don't have that thought very often with a paper collection. I usually love them and buy them and then figure out what photos to put with them. This time, it was the other way around. I had the photos and I had to have this collection to go with them!

The scrapbook page I am sharing today features one of those photos that had to be scrapped with this collection. My nieces pink and purple coats are the reason why! This page is also part of the Elle's Studio Inspiration Gallery for the month of January. Make sure you stop by and check it out. The gallery is filled with so many fantastic projects. You are sure to be inspired!

Friends Forever Memories Layout by Juliana Michaels

Besides the fabulous Elle's Studio products, I also incorporated a piece of Leaky Shed Studio Chipboard for my title. I simply embossed it with white embossing powder before adding it to the layout.

Made With Love Scrapbook Page

Today, I have a new scrapbook page to share with you using Leaky Shed Studio Chipboard and a fun technique to give the chipboard a chalkboard look. The chalkboard trend is all the rage right now and I have grown to love the stark contrast and bold statement it can add to a project.

TECHNIQUE | CHALKBOARD CHIPBOARD

To achieve the chalkboard look on my chipboard, I simply painted the chipboard with black acrylic paint. Once it was dry, I drew on it with a white chalk pencil. I smudged the chalk slightly with my finger tip and it was ready to adhere to my layout. It is such a quick and easy technique!

INSPIRED BY | FIRST KISS PATTERNED PAPER

I was inspired to try this technique as I was going through my papers, trying to decide which ones to use on the layout. The Pebbles Inc Yours Truly First Kiss chalkboard pattern caught my attention. I knew when I saw it that I wanted to attempt this look on my chipboard.

Adorable You Layout Leaky Shed Studio Sneak Peek

Today I have a new layout up on the Leaky Shed Studio Blog that I created using one of their chipboard titles. I dressed it up using Frontage Embossing Enamels by Stampendous.  This is now one of my new favorite products thanks to my dear friend Tracey Sabella, author of Garden of Grace. She is also one of my fellow Leaky Shed Studio Creative Team Members!  This embossing enamel is so fun because the powder is made up of multiple colors. The one I used is called Shabby Pink and is a combination of white, pink and gold. I just love how it looks on my "Adorable" chipboard title.

Here are a few sneak peeks of some of the details on my layout. If you want to see my layout in its entirety, then head on over to the Leaky Shed Studio Blog. (Just click on the words Leaky Shed Studio Blog.) And while you are there, take some time to check out the creations made my the rest of the Leaky Shed Creative Team. They are sure to delight and inspire you!
