Christmas in July!!!

I love Christmas and I really enjoy creating hand made Christmas ornaments each year to give as gifts or to decorate our tree. And what better time than now to start working on your own Christmas gift list! For this project, I created a trio of ornaments using the GCD Studios Chipboard, the Homespun Chic Vintage Labels and the Chip Art tool and dies. On the GCD Studios blog I will be sharing step by step details on how I created one of the ornaments, but the same techniques were used on all three. You can check out the other two ornaments I created below! And make sure you stop by the blog HERE to check out my tutorial!

This is the ornament I will be showing you how to create! Here is the second ornament I created.
And the third one to complete my trio...a star!
So now after seeing these are you finding yourself inspired to do a little Christmas crafting today?! I sure hope so!!!

Jillibean Soup CHA Summer 2010

I am so excited to be sharing with you 2 new collections from Jillibean Soup which will be showcased at CHA this summer! The first line is called Monster Stew! I absolutely love those little monsters and they will be perfectly fun for your kids Halloween layouts. But, what makes this line even more appealing to me is how versatile it can be by using the other side of the paper! And remember monsters aren't necessarily only out and about on Halloween! Sometimes they might even appear at your dinner table!!!

Ferris Wheel Fun!!!

Hi to all of you and thanks for stopping by today! Our inspiration piece this month immediately got my creative juices flowing! Can you see why?! Look at all those fun colors and festive images!
I knew I wanted to make something big, and after a trip down the party supply aisle at my local craft store I located the perfect item to alter...a ferris wheel!!! It is meant to be a center piece for a party with a carnival theme and was originally red and white and quite plain looking! The carnival theme was perfect, but I thought it needed a little more flair to help kick it up to the next level! Now when I look at it, I think it has gone from a simple carnival theme center piece to the perfect glitz and glamour center piece that any girl who loves butterflies and bling would adore! The baskets would be perfect for holding your favorite candy or treat or maybe even a little teddy bear with matching ribbons and bling! (My DH gave me that idea!!!) What do you think?!
I started by covering all of the pieces with patterned paper using the fabulous Homespun Chic collection. I then embellished it with punched and layered butterflies, a handmade multi-layered flower and some vintage lace.

Here you can see some of the details I mentioned above...
Everything spins and moves on this ferris wheel too, which makes it even more fun!!!
I hope you all have a fabulous day!

recent Jillibean...

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July! I know I did and I really enjoyed having my niece stay over for her first sleepover with Auntie Juan!!!

Today I want to share some of my recent Jillibean Soup projects, mostly ones I created last month and that were posted on the blog!

First up a card...
I am loving (if you haven't noticed!!!) creating my own flowers! But, this isn't anything new. I have always enjoyed creating my own embellishments though. I think it partially comes from the fact that when I first started scrapbooking nearly 15 years ago, there wasn't a lot of premade anything other than stickers, die cuts, scissors and paper! I also think it stems from my creative side and my need to make things with my hands! Doing this just makes me happy and is such a creative outlet for me. I think that is also why I have been steering toward more of the altered art stuff as well. I just love to make things! I love color! and I love dimension!
Helmar provided the Jillibean Soup DT with adhesives to use last month and I have really fallen in love with their ZapDots and 450 Glue! Thanks Helmar for letting us play with your products!!!
Next is LO about my youngest niece! Isn't she a doll?!
The close ups show some of the detail, but most of it (I think) gets lost in a photo! There is a ton of glitter glue on the butterflies...and on the corrugated alphas!
And some more Zap Dot magic with the butterflies...
Finally one of my favorite LO's...mostly because of the story behind it! This one is about making pickle relish with my Mom last year using fresh veggies from her garden and my Grandma's pickle relish recipe!
I just love hidden journaling and I knew when I created this LO I wanted to include the recipe we used some how on the layout. I did this, by taking a photo of the actual recipe card and then I matted it some paper, created a tab and slipped it behind the large photo! And if you happen to love sweet pickle relish, then you will LOVE this stuff! I really hope that Mom and I get to make some more this year!!!
................................................................................
So, I have a question of you all! How many of you have a garden? I grew up only eating vegetable from a garden and my Mom has always had one. It is my dream someday to have my own again. I had a small one in St. Louis, but we are still doing a lot of work around the outside of our current home and just haven't had the time and or money to get a garden or really any type of flower bed up and going yet. Maybe next year!

Hope you all have a great day! Love your visits and comments!
