Sunny Studio Stamps Fresh and Fruity Card | Watercolor Bleaching Technique

I'm super excited to share with you today, that I'm guest designing for Sunny Studio Stamps! If you haven't noticed, I've been creating and sharing more cards lately. I really enjoy the process involved with stamping and coloring. So you can imagine how thrilled I was when Mendi contacted me to ask me to guest design - I immediately started doing a little happy dance! Over on the Sunny Studios Stamps Blog, I'm sharing four cards I created using stamps from her Summer 2016 release. I invite you to stop by and check out my post.

As I was creating my cards, I decided to create an extra card to share here on my blog. For this card, I used the Fresh & Fruity stamp set. I love all the fun fruit shapes and how easy it is to mix and match the sentiments to create just the right one you need. I couldn't have asked for a sweeter Mother and that is why I gave this card to her for Mother's Day.

For this card, I stamped and colored the strawberries using the Bleached Watercolor Technique. I first stamped the strawberries with Versamark onto a piece of watercolor paper and then heat embossed them with white embossing powder. I stamped the sentiment using the same technique.

To create the background I applied Distress Ink with my Ranger ink blending tool in various shades of red.

I then applied water with a small paint brush to the insides of the strawberries and dabbed away the excess ink using a paper towel. This is how you get the bleached look that is part of the fun watercolor bleaching technique. I then splattered the entire piece with a water loaded paint brush and dabbed off the excess water with a paper towel.

To color in the strawberries, I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I used a small paint brush and water to blend the ink and add to the water colored look of the card.

For a added touch of dimension, I tied a piece of red and white bakers twine around the card front.  I then mounted it onto a piece of green cardstock.
