Scrapping Our Stash April Blog Hop | Digital Cut File Included

Hello and welcome to the Scrapping Our Stash April Blog Hop! The Scrapping Our Stash Blog Hop is a group of scrappers who are trying their best to make a dent in their scrapbook supply stash. Hopefully you'll be inspired to scrap some of your own stash after seeing all the great inspiration along the way! You can check out the full list of those participating this month below.

I'm sharing a new layout I made using the Simple Stories Life In Color Collection. Yes, it was just released this winter, but I have it in my stash and so it needs to be used! I've been really good lately with limiting my purchases and I want to make sure I'm using all the new goodies.

For this layout, I created a digital cut file that you can download below. The Always Digital Cut File is a simple set of just 2 cut files, but I think it has a lot of fun possibilities.  I cut the words from white cardstock and layered them behind my photo as a design element on the page. They could also be using individually as a title for a layout. Another fun option would be to cut them out of one paper and then back the opening they leave behind with some fun patterned papers.

Hello Card with Watercolor Bleaching

As some of you may have noticed (especially oh my Instagram feed) I've been making quite a few cards lately. Quite honestly, I'm just really getting into it and enjoying the process.  I love trying all the different techniques and just playing around with something different. To help feed my desire to learn more about stamping and cardmaking, I've been searching out online sources of inspiration. One of the blogs I started following is the Simon Says Stamp blog and I recently saw the WPlus9 Watercolor Bleaching card by Kelly Latevola. Her beautiful card really caught my attention, so I watched her video to learn more about the technique she used. I was so inspired, that I immediately sat down to create a card using the technique and the supplies I had on hand.

Hello Card with watercolor bleaching with Distress Ink and Zig Clean Color Brush markers by Juliana Michaels featuring Jane's Doodles Fancy Doodles and SRM Stickers Big Hello

To create my card, I used Jane's Doodles Fancy Doodles stamp set. I began by stamping each flower and leaf with Versamark onto a piece of watercolor paper and then heat embossed them with white embossing powder. The sentiment is from SRM Stickers Big Hello.

I used a mix of Distress Ink in shades of red and pink with my Ranger ink blending tool to create my background. I then applied water with a small paint brush to the insides of the flowers and leaves and dabbed away the excess ink using a paper towel. This creates the bleached look that is part of the fabulous watercolor bleaching technique.

For the next step, Kelly used Copic markers to add a drop shadow to her stamped image. I don't own any Copic's, but I do have some of the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I just recently purchased some of these (and received some from a wonderful friend) and have been playing with them quite a bit. I decided to give them a try and see how they would work for this step. The fine tip on the markers worked wonderfully to create a drop shadow on my stamped images.

Kelly had also added a touch of light gray to her flowers, however when I tried it, I didn't care for the look of it. I ended up using some of my pink Zig Clean Color pens instead. One thing that's great about watercolor is you can erase it with water! I applied water with a small paint brush over the gray areas and daubed the color away with a paper towel. If I could still see a little gray I went back and actually reapplied the lightest pink of my Distress Inks and repeated the bleaching process to start back at the beginning. It worked like a charm!

The final touch was a bit of water splatters and sequins. I really love how this turned out. Card making is really growing on me and I think much of it has to do with the opportunity to try new techniques - which is always something I have enjoyed! So what are your favorite sources for card inspiration and techniques?

Pie Chart Digital Cut File and Scrapbook Sketch

I don't know about you all, but I think there is something absolutely wonderful about using cut files and sketches when it comes to scrapbooking. They can both quickly help pull a layout together. The fact that they can both be so helpful got me to thinking. What if I were to create, combine and share both of them with you along with a layout for even more inspiration? I decided it would be a fabulous idea, so that is exactly what I'm doing today. Below you will find a layout, a digital cut file and a sketch to help you as you create your next scrapbook page.

I created my Favorite Spot layout using the new Jillibean Soup Mushroom Medley collection, Lines Tags and Alpha Tiles. You can see a full list of the supplies I used below. I selected a variety of the patterned papers and then used the Pie Chart Cut File to create the design.

If you haven't checked out the Jillibean Soup Alpha Tiles, I highly recommend them. They are perfect for short titles and I love how they have the holes pre-punched and ready for you to add your own stitching in the perfect color to coordinate with your layout.

Walk The Dog | Digital Cut File Download

Hello all! Today I'm sharing a new dog scrapbook page and a new dog cut file for you to download.

I've noticed a increasing trend in hand drawn and big titles on scrapbook pages and this inspired me to give a go at this myself! The photo of Lincoln really doesn't look like anything special, but it really captured moment in time of me walking Lincoln on one of our many walks. When I took this photo it was on a day when it really hit me just how much the training was paying off and that it really was worth all the time and effort!

As you can see, I cut the title from patterned paper. To give it more dimension I cut it twice from white cardstock and then glued each layer together before then adhering the patterned paper layer on top.
