Little Yellow Bicycle: The Escape

Today is my day on the Little Yellow Bicycle Blog to share some projects I created as part of The Escape Cycling Team!  I also wanted to share them on my own blog too!

First up I have a mini album I created for my niece.  We recently went on a weekend trip to Springfield, IL to check out the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum.  It was a great day spent with my family and I wanted to create something special for her to remember our time together.  I will be seeing her this coming weekend and I am planning to help her fill out the 5 Favorite Memories pocket and other journaling pieces to record her memories of the weekend.  I used a combination of embellishments to decorate the album including the 6 x 6 Paper pad, 6 x 6 Decorative papers, Paper crafting kit, Chipboard, Tear Out Tickets & Journaling  and Cardstock stickers.   You can read more about how I created it on the Little Yellow Bicycle Blog.

I also created this fun travel change jar by recycling an empty peanut bar jar!  The idea came to me as I was rinsing it to put it in our recycle bin.  We love to travel and we would love to visit Italy someday.  Hopefully this will help us keep motivated on saving for our next trip! Whether it be to Italy or some where less exotic!
I used a flower from the Paper crafting kit to decorate the lid.  I also used Chipboard pieces, Cardstock stickers and their fantastic Vellum Tape!  I am in LOVE with that stuff!  You can read more on how I created it on the Little Yellow Bicycle Blog.

I want to shout out a special THANK YOU to Little Yellow Bicycle for selecting me to ride with them again! It was another amazing ride!!!

Creative Scrappers: #218

OK!  I know!!! 2 blog posts in 1 day!  What is up with that craziness?!  Well, I also wanted to share that  one of MY SKETCHES is up on the Creative Scrappers blog...#218!!!

Here is my take on it using some of my favorite...Jillibean Soup! I am in LOVE with their new Alphabean Stickers and I can NOT wait for the new colors to be available!!!

Yeah...D is not much for yardwork, but since he got his new truck this spring he was a little more excited about using it to help with all the work we had to do.

And here is the sketch:

You still have time to play along with any or all of the July sketches to win a prize from the July Sponsor My Creative Classroom.  And, if you decide to play along with this sketch, you will have a chance for a special prize from C'est Magnifique Kits.

Cricut: A Frightful Affair

I hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday and have enjoyed your weekend! I know I have! Thanks to some good new friends who just happen to be our neighbors! He is a chef and he loves Mexican, (which is ALL GOOD because I think I was made to eat that kind of food as often as possible! LOL!!!) so we enjoyed a fabulous meal last night including tacos al pastor and cochinita pibil. It was excellent!!!

I LOVE HALLOWEEN!  Maybe it's the color orange (that is one of my favorite colors!) or just the idea of dressing up and being something different than yourself!  I love to decorate for Halloween and this year I will be going all out in my new home!  With that in mind, I created this frame to add to my Halloween decorations for this year.
I bought the frame at Hobby Lobby.  It is 11 x 14.  I wanted something large enough to make a statement hanging on the wall.  The inside was decorated with images from the new Cricut Cartridge called A Frightful Affair!  It has some awesome images and phrases, as well as a fabulous font, that are perfect for all of your Halloween adventures.

Happy Halloween Frame by Juliana Michaels

I created the background by splattering Tattered Angels spray mists in Pumpkin and Raven on white cardstock.  Nothing fancy, but it gives it a nice distress feel.  I did a bit of pen work to help the spider web stand out a bit more. I simply used a black marker and a ruler to draw the lines following the shape of the cut.

I embossed several of the images using several of the new Cricut Embossing Folders - Midnight Hauntings and Halloween Damask!  I added some ink on the embossed images using my favorite inks....Ranger Distress...in Black Soot and Spiced Marmalade.

Is that little mouse cute as he perches up there on the title?!

Now for something good to know! Cricut is now including pages in the handbook of all of the images in color with their layers to give you an idea of how they will look once you cut them out.  The other nice feature is that it shows you the image and the page number of where it is located.  I think this is a wonderful addition to the handbooks and will certainly help as you are trying to decide what image you might want to use.

That's all for now folks!
Head on over to Cricut.com or the Cricut Blog to check out the other new cartridges and some fabulous inspiration!

Bo Bunny Pinspiration

Who doesn't love Pinterest?  Who doesn't spend WAY TOO much time there?!  I do my best to keep it under control, but we all have to admit that it is a wonderful source of inspiration and ideas for just about anything you might be interested in doing or having or wanting!!!  Today, Bo Bunny asked us to create a project based on an image from Pinterest.  At first, I was like WHAT?!  I was not so sure what to do with it.  But then one day as I was looking at the image, the idea hit me.  Double Dot...lots of it and lots of colors.  And here is what I came up with...

Kind of simple, but I have been heading that way a bit more lately with my layouts.  Still some layering and dimension,  but I am actually creating layouts in a lot less time than I used to.  This is a bit crazy and unlike me, but styles change and I think it is OK to evolve during your creative process!

See what I mean...this was a bit tricky to work with at first. How does it inspire you?  I would love to know!  And if you are interested in more ideas, check out the Bo Bunny blog today and see how this image inspired the other designers!

Only You | Corrugated Banner

Jillibean Soup had a great sketch posted last month and they also did a little feature on flags/banners.  Well I was inspired by both of these when I created this layout.  The sketch went by the way side a bit, but the placement of the banners are similar.  Kind of! LOL!!!

What I really enjoyed was creating the banner/flags.  I used the corrugated banners that come in the Butterflies package.  I trimmed them to this shape and then painted them with white Gesso.  Once they were dry I tied a bit of Baker's Twine around them and then added a heart sticker. I then popped them up using double sided foam tape.

And don't you just love their new Alphabeans?!  They are the perfect size for every project if you ask me!!!

And they are releasing new colors at CHA!!! I am doing the happy dance for these!!! These are definitely on my must have list!

Here is the sketch I started with...designed by Nicole Nowasad for Jillibean Soup. I just adore her style!

Speaking of CHA...Have you started a list of your MUST HAVES yet?
