Play Time

I have been doing a bit of scrapping lately.  The kind that has been making me very happy!  No assignments...just scrapping for me...playing with whatever I want to play with and well just playing!!!
Playing is good for the soul and the inner creative side we all have.

This LO was inspired by Creative Scrappers #208.  The photos really inspired my background design.  My husband is twirling my nieces around in the backyard at my Mom's.  They had a blast and truth be told he thought is arms were going to fall off before they would let him stop!  Anyway, all that round & round motion got me to thinking.  One thing led to another and the next thing I knew I was cutting swirls from the patterned paper. Free hand...no pattern.  Just letting it go and seeing what happens!  It was quite fun!!! I then added the machine stitching.  This was fun too as I twirled the paper round & round on my sewing machine!!! Another fun technique I tried was paint splattering using various colors of spray mists. I shook them up, unscrewed the top and then tapped it onto my background paper. Beautiful splattering occurred and without the mess that I have found when I have tried this with paint.

Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Jillibean Soup/Homemade Bean Soup, Coconut Lime Soup, Neopolitan Bean Bisque
Embellishments: Jillibean Soup/Felt Flowers and various stickers
Letter Stickers: American Crafts
Mist: Tattered Angels

I will have more playing to share with you soon...hopefully later this week.
Thanks for stopping by & saying HI!
HAPPY HUGS!!!

Special Edition...

Most of us know someone who is either getting ready to have a baby or just had a baby.  I know I do!!!
A good friend of ours and my niece are both expecting!!! With this in mind, I was inspired to create a baby themed card for the recent Cricut Hello Thursday edition on May 3.  The carts released that day are super cute and one of my newest favorites was released...Pretty Pennants.  It is perfect for banners of all sizes, but I always enjoy a challenge and trying to think outside the box.  So I went outside the banner and used it to create a card!  I used the Cricut Craft Room (you could also use your Gypsy) to create the card base .  I doubled the image and then welded them together. This is a great technique to use any time you want to create a card when a cartridge doesn't come with the card option and it's perfect to use when creating shaped cards.

I cut the stork image out several times from white cardstock and layered it to give it more dimension.  I really wanted it to be the focal point of my card.  I then had fun playing with a Viva Decor Pearl Pen.  I coated the entire stork with the pearl pen.  IRL the stork is so shiny...I wish you could see it! I then inked the baby bundle, bill and legs and adhered them to the card.  I embellished it with some ribbon, tulle, twine and buttons.  I then completed it by adding a SRM sticker as the sentiment!

So now who has babies on the brain?!

Hello Spring (LYB STYLE)

Hi all!  Thanks for stopping by today!  Hasn't this been a gorgeous spring?!  I think so except for all the allergy troubles I have had.  But thankfully I have avoided a sinus infection so far, so that is always good in my book!!!

I played along with the layout challenge using a fabulous sketch by Kristine Davidson of Creative Scrappers. I used the new Serenity collection on my layout. I love the colors in this collection and they went perfect with these photos of my beautiful sister putting forth her best "Martha Stewart" at our family Christmas party. She was quite proud of it, and it was really yummy!!!
