Happy Birthday Bird Card

I am growing fond of adding pockets to my cards lately, especially the adorable ones by Pebbles Inc. It is so much fun to dress up the pocket with chipboard, stickers, buttons and more! I recently created this card for my Mom who celebrated her birthday toward the end of January.

I used the From Me To You Cardmaking Pad to create the base for my card. I then selected coordinating cardstock and zigzag stitched them together before adding them to the front of the card. Next, I adhered a From Me To You Library Pocket. I then embellished the pocket with a button, jute, chipboard and a couple stickers. It was a quick and easy card to create and perfect for wishing my Mom a very Happy Birthday!

Cherub's Heart Valentine's Card

Happy early Valentine's Day!!! Today, I have a Valentine's Day card to share with you that I created using the sweet Cherub's Heart chipboard piece by Leaky Shed Studio and the super fun Head Over Heels collection by BoBunny. The colors combination in the Head Over Heels collection inspired me to paint the chipboard black. Painting your chipboard with acrylic paint is always an easy way to customize them. The contrast of the black painted cherub's against the Layered Sticker and gold doily really makes the whole thing pop!

The pink behind the heart is from the packaging of some Elle's Studio die cuts. I adhered the chipboard piece to the paper packaging with liquid adhesive. Once dry, I trimmed away the excess. Next, I removed the small hearts from the center of the Layered Sticker by Crate Paper and attached the Cherub's Heart piece and then I reattached the "love" heart. The entire piece was then attached on top of a gold doily before I adhered it to the front of my card.

Birthday Greetings Box Set

I recently created a set of Birthday Greetings using SRM Stickers fabulous new CHA 2014 products. One of these new products is an awesome A2 Card Box perfect for holding a set of standard size (A2) cards. I created a set of 8 cards to give to my MIL as a gift. She is always needing cards, so I thought this might hold her over for a little while.

Gossamer Blue and Elle's Studio Blog Hop

Welcome to the Gossamer Blue and Elle's Studio Blog Hop!!!



Insert head hanging in shame here, but I have never had the pleasure of working with a Gossamer Blue kit. That doesn't mean I haven't drooled over them though, so, when the opportunity to team up with them presented itself, I was thrilled! Their kits are packed full of the latest and greatest, contain exclusive products and are fabulously coordinated. They have a great mix of embellishments, from stickers to stamps and everything in between, as well as digital files!

I created two scrapbook pages using a combination of the February Main Kit and February Add-On Kit. I seriously had a blast creating and playing with the contents of these kits and have tons left to keep creating with! These two kits contain a fabulous assortment of products including patterned papers and embellishments from the Elle's Studio Love You More collection and an exclusive stamp. One of my favorite things about this kit was the exclusive wood veneer that comes with it. I added several to each of my layouts, and I still have plenty to play with for other projects.

TIP | USING NEGATIVE PIECES ON YOUR SCRAPBOOK PAGE

I have a fun tip to share about these layouts involving the hearts that I cut using my Silhouette Cameo. I knew I was going to cut hearts to create the background for my Love scrapbook page from 5 different papers. Before I cut the hearts out, I cut a 2" x 12" strip from each of the papers and then cut the hearts out of that strip. I loved the negative piece left after I took the hearts so much, that I decided to use those strips on my One And Only layout. This is such a great way to use your scraps! So, before you cut your next images with your electronic cutting machine, think about how you are positioning them on the paper. The negative piece may be just the thing to add a pop of fun to your next project!

You and Me Mini Album

The BoBunny Head Over Heels Mini Album is so fresh and funky and was the perfect thing for me to use to make a gift of love for my husband. Every year, I try to make him something for Valentine's Day as a way to show him how much I love him...not just today, but every day of the year. I am sharing with you here some of the inside pages and close ups of the extra little things I added to the already fabulous embellishments that make up the Head Over Heels collection. I repeated a couple of techniques throughout my album to help it flow from one page to the next. One of those techniques was the use of a black pen to hand draw lines and other little doodles on the edges of the papers and die cuts. The Head Over Heels collections has a hand drawn or doodled look to it, so this helped reinforce that style.

The other technique I used was to apply glitter glue to some of the chipboard and sticker accents that I used throughout the album. I applied it in various places on these pieces to help highlight the various heart shapes on each page.
