Dream and Don't Forget to Play

I was going through my "scrapbook files" on my computer to write a blog post and I cam across this tag. I had totally forgotten about taking photos of it or sharing it.  The funny thing is that it is still sitting on my bookshelf in my scrappy room and has been since the day I finished it. I don't normally make tags just playing around, but I had visited Tim Holtz's blog back in the fall and was inspired by one of his monthly tag posts to play along.  I remember really enjoying the process of making it and not worrying about what I was going to do with it.

I hand cut the banner and then stamped the word dream on it.  The border at the bottom of the tag is the negative left from the center of the flower. I actually went back and looked and this was inspired by his August tag! How is that for just getting around to sharing something?! I modified it quite a bit because I didn't have all of the same supplies.  I stamped the dragonfly on the background and then on the doily and just lined them up on the tag. And I can't remember if I used paint or my distress stains on the embossed details, but I am thinking it might have been paint. OH well!!!

Supplies:
Tag: Inkessentials
Cardstock: American Crafts
Die Cut: Martha Stewart Crafts
Stamps: Bo Bunny, Hero Arts
Ink: Ranger Distress Ink and Stains
Charms: Bo Bunny

Now, looking at it again I am reminded that it is important to just play once and awhile and not worry about what you are going to do with it once it is finished. I have been having that problem lately, and I think it is a stifling my creativity.  Some of this thought process comes from the fact that I am very practical about every day life and sometimes that slips over into my creative space. I must remember to create for the sake of creating and to quit being so practical about what to do with it later! Have you ever felt this way?

  1. What a beautiful tag Juliana. I love the vintage feel to it. And yes... I do feel the same way you do. That's when I get out my Art Journal and just create. It's not for a design team, it's not for a publication, it's just creative freedom just for me. Sometimes we just have to let go..
