Happy Father's Day Card | Newton's Nook Designs

Hello friends! I know it's been awhile since I posted. I took a break so we could move to Pittsburgh, PA! Moving is never fun, so I knew I'd need a break to focus on the packing and unpacking that goes along with it. Today, I'm back to share my latest card. It's a Happy Father's Day card created just in time for this upcoming special day! I used some fabulous Newton's Nook Designs products to bring it all together.

Happy Father's Day Card by Juliana Michaels featuring Newton's Nook Designs Winston Takes Flight Stamp Set, Framework Die Set, and Cloudy Sky Stencil

To get started, I stamped the adorable Winston from Winston Takes Flight and colored him with my Chameleon Markers. I then die cut him using the coordinating Winston Takes Flight Die Set.
He of course, is flying through the sky, so I created a background for him using the Cloudy Sky Stencil. I first die cut a piece of white cardstock using the scallop edge frame from the Framework Die Set. I then placed the stencil on top of the die cut and inked away using a blender tool and Distress Oxide in Blueprint and Salty Ocean.
Next, I stamped the sentiment with Versafine Ink in Black. I combined stamps from the Winston Takes Flight and the Papa Bear Stamp Sets to create the sentiment.

For the final touch, I embossed the postage edged die from the Framework Die Set. I originally die cut the image and had it on a white card base. However, it was too stark and drew your eye away from the focal point...Winston! In the end, I really love how the all black background looks with the texture from the embossed die. It adds a bit of texture to the background while keeping your eye focused on the stamped image and sentiment. Do you ever have one idea and then change it out because you don't like how it looks? What sort of changes have you made during your creative process?

NEW RSS FEED REMINDER

In the past, did you receive my blog posts via email? Do you miss getting those emails packed with inspiration and ideas? If so, I ask that you subscribe to my blog's NEW RSS Feed.

I used to use Mad Mimi as my RSS Feed however, a couple of months ago I reached the maximum number of subscribers for their free plan and I can no longer send out my blog posts through them without paying $27 dollars a month. I don't know about you, but to me, that is money that could be spent on more crafty supplies and I have a budget to stick to.  I really loved Mad Mimi and how great their emails looked, but again, I have a budget to stick to.  So....if you're interested in receiving my blog posts again, I would love for you to sign up HERE. I'm going back to Bloggers Feedburner in hopes of being able to reach you all again. I miss you all bunches!
