Die Cut Card Background Tutorial | Lawn Fawn Watercolor Petite Paper Pack and Stitched Hearts Stackables Die Set

I've been doing so many Christmas cards lately, I thought it would be fun to switch gears and do something totally different. I pulled out the Bicycle Built For Two Stamp Set and was inspired to create a fun little wedding card. After stamping and coloring the images with Chameleon Pens, I die cut them and layered them to create the little scene. Once this was finished, I set it to the side and began work on the background.

The Lawn Fawn Watercolor Petite Paper Pack is seriously gorgeous and because the papers are monochromatic, they are great for layering and creating backgrounds. Yes, I could have just cut a rectangle of paper and used it as the background. However, as I've already mentioned, I was in the mood for mixing things up a bit. I thought it would be fun to create a Die Cut Background for my card.

I began by die cutting a bunch of hearts using the Stitched Hearts Stackables Die Set. For this card, I used the middle and smallest sized hearts.

After I was finished die cutting, I began layering them onto a piece of white cardstock cut to to fit the front of the card. Feel free to make this piece any size you desire for your card. My finished card was 4.25 x 5.5 inches so I only used one sheet of paper to cut out all of the hearts.

Once I was pleased with the placement of each heart, I adhered them to the white cardstock.

The final step was to trim the hearts hanging over the outside edge. Now the Die Cut Background is complete and ready to adhere to the card base.

After I had finished the die cut background, I layered it onto a slightly darker piece of paper from the Lawn Fawn Watercolor Petite Paper Pack to give it a little contrast.

Next, I added the sentiment to a strip of white cardstock. For the final touch, I adhered the sweet little couple using double sided foam adhesive to give it a bit of dimension.
