Releasing A Compound Path in Silhouette and Elle's Studio July Kit Reveal

Adventure Is Out There Scrapbook Page by Juliana Michaels for Elle's Studio July 2014 Exclusive Kit and Cut Files #ellesstudio #scrapbookpage
Hello and welcome! Today, I'm sharing a new scrapbook page as part of the Elle's Studio July Kit and Design Team Gallery Inspiration Reveal! I created my Adventure Is Out There layout using some tags from the July 2014 Exclusive Kit and the July Cut Files. I combined it with papers, tags and wood veneer from the Shine and Everyday Moments collections. I also used the new Washi Tape stamps!

I'm also sharing how to release a compound path using your Silhouette Cameo Software. I used this technique to create the border pieces behind my photo.
Begin by opening the Elle's Studio Box Border Cut File from the July Cut Files.  Cut it from white cardstock.

Next, select the image and right click on it. A pop down list will appear. Click on Release Compound Path.

The image will become filled with black. The red lets you know where the cut lines are.

Click inside to select each piece and then hit delete to remove these cut lines. Continue clicking and deleting until there are no more red boxes (cut lines) inside the shape. You will only have the red outline of the entire shape left.

Now you are ready to cut out the image with your choice of patterned paper.

Layer this "released" image with the original image to create the layered border pieces like the ones I used on my layout.  Here is a close up of the pieces I cut. The white is the original cut file image. The patterned paper behind it is the image after I released the compound path and deleted the interior cut lines.
