Happy Monday everyone! Today I am sharing the layouts I created for the Core'dinations Design Team Call. I created all three layouts using cardstock from the CoreImpressions Pink Paislee Collection: Modern Prints as the background/base for each layout. What I really want to share with you today though is how I used three different techniques on this cardstock to achieve three unique and different backgrounds. Each technique brings out the fabulous embossed designs that are present in this collection.
For my first layout I used a simple technique that Core'dinations Carstock is famous for...sanding. I used a simple flexible sanding block, like what you can find at a hardware store, to gently remove some of the color.
My title was created with a piece of cardstock from the Tim Holtz Distress Collection using my Silhouette Cameo. (The font I used is called Lobster font from daFont.com.) I again used the same sanding idea, but this time I tried to only sand the edges of the letters. I recommend holding each letter down on the table and sand one section of one letter at a time so that you don't tear the letters. Change directions as needed to sand every side of each letter. Once I had completed the sanding I layered the images and adhered them to my layout using double sided foam tape.

On my second layout, I used the technique of heat embossing to bring out the gorgeous design in this particular piece of cardstock. I applied Versamark Watermark Ink to the raised areas of the embossed cardstock using a brayer. I then poured gold embossing powder over the ink and heat set it with my heat gun. As you can see, I did not cover the entire background with ink. To help determine where I wanted the image to stand out more, I first temporarily placed my photos on the background to get an idea of where I wanted them positioned. I removed the photos and then rolled on the ink just out from where the photos were going to be placed. The brayer applies the ink in straight lines, however I did not care for this look when I poured the embossing powder on the ink. To remedy this, I used my finger to remove some of the embossing powder to soften the edges before I heat set it.

For my third and final layout, I used another simple technique...inking. I applied an ink color in a slightly darker shade than the cardstock. I again used the brayer, however, this time I applied ink to the entire background.
The title was cut using my Silhouette Cameo with a piece of cardstock from the Tim Holtz Distress Collection. (The font I used is Housegrind available at daFont.com.)
