and...

I knew I wanted to make something big, and after a trip down the party supply aisle at my local craft store I located the perfect item to alter...a ferris wheel!!! It is meant to be a center piece for a party with a carnival theme and was originally red and white and quite plain looking! The carnival theme was perfect, but I thought it needed a little more flair to help kick it up to the next level! Now when I look at it, I think it has gone from a simple carnival theme center piece to the perfect glitz and glamour center piece that any girl who loves butterflies and bling would adore! The baskets would be perfect for holding your favorite candy or treat or maybe even a little teddy bear with matching ribbons and bling! (My DH gave me that idea!!!) What do you think?!
I started by covering all of the pieces with patterned paper using the fabulous Homespun Chic collection. I then embellished it with punched and layered butterflies, a handmade multi-layered flower and some vintage lace.
Did you know that Jillibean Soup has sold nearly 1,000,000 sprouts! Now that is a lot of sprouts!!! And to celebrate we are having a Millionth Sprout Contest! Check it out HERE! You could win some fabulous prizes, including $100 worth of Jillibean Soup Products!
And I couldn't resist....a little sneaky of a technique project which I created for this month! The full tutorial will be up on the GCD Studios blog on July 27th!!! Any guesses on what this one might be?!?!
I hope you all have a great weekend! We are going camping and I hope to relax a tad! This week has been full of crazy crafting with very little sleep as I work away creating some projects for CHA! I am so excited to have been given the opportunity to do this this year!!!!
I am loving (if you haven't noticed!!!) creating my own flowers! But, this isn't anything new. I have always enjoyed creating my own embellishments though. I think it partially comes from the fact that when I first started scrapbooking nearly 15 years ago, there wasn't a lot of premade anything other than stickers, die cuts, scissors and paper! I also think it stems from my creative side and my need to make things with my hands! Doing this just makes me happy and is such a creative outlet for me. I think that is also why I have been steering toward more of the altered art stuff as well. I just love to make things! I love color! and I love dimension!
Helmar provided the Jillibean Soup DT with adhesives to use last month and I have really fallen in love with their ZapDots and 450 Glue! Thanks Helmar for letting us play with your products!!!
The close ups show some of the detail, but most of it (I think) gets lost in a photo! There is a ton of glitter glue on the butterflies...
and on the corrugated alphas!
And some more Zap Dot magic with the butterflies...

Finally one of my favorite LO's...mostly because of the story behind it! This one is about making pickle relish with my Mom last year using fresh veggies from her garden and my Grandma's pickle relish recipe!
I just love hidden journaling and I knew when I created this LO I wanted to include the recipe we used some how on the layout. I did this, by taking a photo of the actual recipe card and then I matted it some paper, created a tab and slipped it behind the large photo! And if you happen to love sweet pickle relish, then you will LOVE this stuff! I really hope that Mom and I get to make some more this year!!!
