Rejoice Christmas Cards

As I write this post, I realize I need to get it in gear! I have a few more Christmas cards to make and today is going to be the day to pump them out! I will be leaving for Cleveland soon and I won't be able to make them while I am gone. For starters though, here are two cards that I have completed using the Rejoice collection by Bo Bunny. It is a very traditional, but as always gorgeous, Christmas collection of papers & products. To create this first card I used some scraps from another project I created. I Distress ink to the edges of the papers & then layered them. The stamped image was stamped and then covered with clear embossing powder and heat set. The flower is one of the new Blossoms, however I removed the original flower center because I felt it was too big for a card, and I replaced it with a brad. I then added the jewels and gold cord. My final step was to lightly mist the entire card & especially the flower with gold Glimmer Mist.

My next card was again created using scraps. The large cream cardstock piece was wiped through & smooshed into the left over Glimmer mist from my first card that was still on my crafting mat. You can't really see the effect in the photos, but in person it shines through quite nicely! I then took a small paper doily and inked it with my Distress inks. I then lightly misted it with water & wrinkled & folded it to create a slightly smaller, but more dimensional, doily. I adhered this on top of a piece of the new Bo Bunny Lace, which I think is just gorgeous!!! Next, I layered the chipboard stickers and other pieces. Both stickers were placed on scrap chipboard and then trimmed around. I do this all the time because I like the added dimension. I then finished the card with some jewels & a few spritzes of gold Glimmer Mist!

Bo Bunny | Handmade Christmas Ornaments

Hi all!  So who is in the Christmas spirit yet?  I sure hope you are!  I am trying my best, but I am finding it a little difficult this year since we are getting ready to move again.  I will not be putting up a Christmas tree or decorations this year and these always help me get into the holiday spirit.  With that option gone, I  had to come up with something else this year.  My solution was to create some Christmas ornaments and cards.  One of the projects I created recently was a handmade Christmas ornament using the gorgeous Bo Bunny Rejoice collection!


The base of the ornament is a paper mache base that I have had in my stash for a couple years.  I covered it with a scrap of patterned paper.  I then cut a small strip to cover the edge and then added strips of punched paper to create the "lace" border.  I simply glued this to the back side of the ornament and as I turned a corner I lightly misted the paper with water and folded the paper. 


I embellished the front using a layered chipboard sticker from the Rejoice collection and some Jewels. I added some gold glitter glue around the outside edge of the sticker for a bit more bling.  Then I lightly misted the entire piece with gold Glimmer Mist. 


I actually LOVE to make ornaments...they are like little mini altered projects!!!  Do you or have you ever made Christmas ornaments?  If not, I highly recommend giving it a try!  And if you are looking for more inspiration, check out the Bo Bunny blog today!

Thankful For My Baby Cakes

Ciao Bella | First Bella Blvd Post

Ciao & Welcome!!! Today is my first day on the Bella Blvd Blog as one of their Ongoing Guest Designers!  I had so much fun playing with the goodies they sent to me that I ended up creating three layouts to share using some of their newest collections.  First up is a layout using their fabulous new Kiss Me Collection.  I love the color combo so very much and the patterns are fantastic as always!  The other thing I love about this collection is its versatility. It's not just for Valentines Day. It is perfect for Everyday!!!  This first layout is of my niece and when I saw this collection I knew it would be the perfect match for this photo.  I had been holding onto this photo waiting patiently for the "perfect" papers and they finally arrived with the Kiss Me collection!!!




My next two layouts were created using the Thankful Collection.  This collection made my heart sing because of the color combination.  I love orange, yellow and green and this collection as plenty of that along with some blue, red and even pink!!!  I had fun incorporating a variety of patterned papers on this layout and it was easy to do by creating strips and cutting them into banners to create the background. And yes, those pies are homemade...my mom's pie crust is the best!!!


And aren't the Bella Flags awesome?!  I love the little touch they add to a layout!



Do you notice anything here?  Something a little different that I used as an embellishment? I am not going to tell, but if you guess correctly you get a cookie!!! LOL!!!


Last but not least, is this layout of my niece from last Thanksgiving.  She can be such a turkey some times and she was all about putting on a show for me as she was eating her pumpkin pie.  Probably because she knew I was taking photos!  Anyway, they were a perfect match for that cute little turkey on the Borders & Cute Cuts papers. I created a pie chart piece to "frame" the silliest photo of her and to allow me to incorporate a few more pieces of patterned paper into the layout.

Before & After | A Scrapbook Page Makeover

Have you ever created a layout and then decided you really didn't like it? Usually, I am satisfied with my layouts when I am "finished" with them. Recently, however, I created a layout that I just did not like.  I took photos, posted it on my blog HERE, but I just didn't like it. I set it to the side despite this feeling and then a couple weeks later I decided I was going to try to "fix it".  This is the original layout that I didn't like.


Here is the "fixed" layout.


I added a few things here and there and I think I finally like it a bit more. It seems a bit more finished with the addition of the other embellishments and bits of patterned paper.  I also added a bit more ink to helped the embossed/stamped images show up a bit more. 




What are your thoughts?  I just loved this photo of my Dad & husband so much that I wanted to love the layout too! KWIM?!
