Where has summer gone? Do you feel like it has flown by too? I really can't believe it's August already. School will be back in session soon, cooler weather will be arriving and football season will be starting. We're a little excited about football here in Cleveland this year. All of you football fans out there will know exactly what I'm talking about!

August also brings the reveal of the Elle's Studio exclusive August Kit. This month, they have a fabulous Tag Kit, Cut File,  and Back to School cork. Did I say cork? Yes, I did! Elle's Studio has added cork embellishments to their product arsenal and I just know you are going to love them as much as I do!

The layout I'm sharing today is another photo from our trip to Mazatlan, Mexico last summer. I'm slowing getting through my photos from this trip and Elle's Studio Shine collection has been perfect for helping me do that. I've created quite a few pocket style pages, but some of my favorite photos have earned their own private page! This photo of Danny did just that. I truly love his smile and his heart!

I came across this gem of goodness on Pinterest and fell in love! These mini canvases are a combination of embroidery and fabric appliqué that are more than adorable. They really make me want to sew and stitch!

The new puppy - Mr. President - as we are also calling him is keeping me quite busy. So busy, that I didn't have time to create a new file to share with you. Instead, I'm sharing an older FREE digital cut file that you might have missed.  It's called You Are My Sunshine.

Lincoln loves to keep me company while I'm on my computer, and he is still sleeping a lot. However, we are really trying to keep our eye on him so that he doesn't get into too much trouble. Watching him has limited my creating time, but hopefully I'll be up and going again soon!

Wood Grain Sequins

I don't know about you, but I love sequins and wood grain! There is just something so fabulously fun about both of them and when you put them together it's even more fabulous! Recently I was the lucky winner of a MFT Stamps Die-namics Sequins die from Paper Crafter's Library and I have been "die"ing to play with it!

I used the MFT die to cut some sequins for my Hello There card from a sheet of wood grained paper called On The Dock that is part of the Elle's Studio Shine collection.

It was super easy to create these and add them to my card. And since they are made out of paper, the card is not bulky and will be easy to send in the mail.

3 Birds Design | August Scrapbook Sketch Take 2

Today I'm up on the 3 Birds Studio Blog sharing my take on our August Scrapbook Sketch. The layout turned out much differently than what I had originally planned. Have you ever had that happen to you? Have you ever started out with this "grand idea" and then things just don't turn out the way you imagined? Well, that is exactly what happened to me with that layout. I even started with totally different photos.

As I struggled to try to make my original idea come to life, I realized the photos, papers and colors that I wanted to use just weren't working together. So I "started over" and I searched for a new photo to use on that layout. I put my original photos to the side and decided they would be perfect to use to create a second layout using the August Sketch for inspiration.

When you look at the sketch, you will see that the only real thing that I borrowed was the triangular shaped corners. And even then, I didn't cut true triangles...I fussy cut the roses from the paper and used them.

To fill in the center area, I used a variety of circle stickers from the Nestable Festival Sticker Pad along with some circles that I die cut from the green chevron patterned paper.

I embellished the page with more roses and leaves that I fussy cut from the Nestable Festival Sticker Pad. To give them more dimension, I adhered them to my layout using double sided foam tape. I also used a couple of stickers from the new Sticker Flair Kit. The sentiment that I used as my title goes perfectly with these photos of my niece. She definitely leaves some sparkle on the world around her!
