Serving it up!

Mix It Up!
We have just added 4 new talented scrapbookers to our design team and I am so excited to be working with them! I have had the pleasure of working with Rae and Estee in the past and I am looking forward to getting to know Erin and Cherie more! They are super talented and you can check out their blogs by clicking on their name over on the right hand side of my blog!!! And you have got to stop by Mix It Up to see Mixer #24! I was in awe when I saw how these ladies mixed it up for this one!!! AMAZING!!!! For this mixer we had the sketch below for inspiration and then we were challenged to use a photo that was at least 20 years old.

Here's my take on it!
I went with a photo of me at 16 and one of me now at 36 and journaled in a questioning format about what my 16 year old self would think of me now!
I was inspired to create the flowers and their leaves using a technique I learned on The Next Step which you can check out here.

Chip it Up!!!
Here is another of my Magistical Memories projects for this month! We have a challenge going on for July to use lyrics from a song as your title. Of course you must use at least one piece of chipboard on your project! It can be a card, layout or altered item and it needs to be uploaded into the challenge gallery no later than July 31. Winners will receive some amazing Magistical Memories chipboard!!! I went with "So Happy Together" for my song and I hand wrote the words to the refrain around the outside edge! The chippie I used was Out on a Limb however I altered it a bit by removing the bird and inking it that nice brown color.

Serve it Up!!!
Jillibean Soup that is!!!
I have made it no secret that I am in love with their products! Well now their new lines are totally blowing me away! Here's the most recent release they shared on their blog!

Lentil

And as I was getting the above link, what do a spy? These amazing calendar sprouts! How freaking clever is that?!

Well that's all I've got for now! Happy scrappin' and thanks for stopping by!!!

Time flies...

when you are having fun! And I have been having a ton of fun scrapping lately!

I have 2 more LO's to share with you using the fabulous June kit from Scrapbook Doodle! I also have a sketch that I created for each one as well!

I just rubbed the ink pad over the flower to add color to the embossed areas and then around the edges. I did the same thing with the chipboard.

I have been wanting to do a "My Favorite Things" layout for awhile and this paper just seemed to call for it to me! As you can see some of my favorite things include the beach, Chuck Taylor's, Dr. Pepper, chocolate chip cookies and the Twilight series!

Here is my first project for Magistical Memories this month. I created this altered photo frame using the bubble tree. I painted it with acrylic paint and then dressed it up with some Bo Bunny buttons and bling and some Kaiser Craft pearls.

(Supplies: Patterned Paper: Bo Bunny and American Crafts; Chipboard: Magistical Memories; Ribbon, Buttons and Bling: Bo Bunny; Pearls: Kaiser Craft; Punches: Martha Stewart and Fiskars; Photo Frame: Target)

And last but not least....
Jillibean Soup! I am in love with this...

And I can not wait to get my hands on their new stuff!!!

Happy scrapping and I hope you are having a great summer!!!

Doodle time!

Scrapbook Doodle that is!!!!
As I had mentioned earlier, I am guesting at Scrapbook Doodle this month and I was lucky to be given their awesome June kit to work with! So far I have gotten 2 projects completed that I want to share with you and at least one more is on the way! I have a feeling though that I will be making several more before all is said and done! This kit is full of goodies!

First up is a LO about my darling niece! She thought it was so much fun to get into the bathtub and play and she even started playing peek-a-boo with the shower curtain with me as I started taking the pictures! Isn't she just the most adorable little girl?!

I also came up with a sketch that I used to create this LO. If you look close you can see that I added Glossy Accents to the "bubbles" to make them look more like water!!! (you can kind of tell in the upper right had corner)

And here is the sketch...

My second project is this cute little set of pinwheels! I had a great time putting these together and if you are interested in how I did them you can check out this thread for my directions.

And if you love this kit, then you need to check out their June Limited Edition Kit!
It features Bo Bunny Mango Luau! I am so in love with these colors!!!

In other scrappy news...Oh I am so excited about this!!!

Cocoa Daisy is having a DT call! I have always stalked their site and drooled over their kits! I would love to be a part of that amazing group of talent! A girl can dream right?! I am definitely going to go for this one and keep my fingers crossed!!!

Jen Gallacher from Scrapbook Trends contacted me about my Woody mini album and they will be featuring it on their blog in the near future! Super excited about this too!!!

I hope you all are having a great week! Thanks for stopping by!!!

going strong...

I want to thank all of you for your kind words, thoughts, prayers and hugs before and during my surgery! My surgery went really well, actually better than expected, considering I had to spend 2 nights in the hospital for what was supposed to be a same day surgery. I have to say that I truly have THE best doctor in the world...I mean how many doctor's pray with you and your family before you go in for surgery?! Mine did and it was truly amazing! I am so thankful to have been referred to him and to have him taking care of me and working to improve our chances to have children! I am so happy to be feeling better every day and I will be returning to work on Monday. As much as I enjoy being home and doing more "Betty homemaker" kind of stuff, it will be good for me to get back to reality sooner than later. I could get spoiled very quickly being at home!!!

I have been scrapping, and have a few LO's that I need to add the journaling too. I have been a bit lazy with that lately. Do you ever do that with your LO's? I find that if I don't do my journaling right away, the LO just sits there and sits there. Tomorrow, I have vowed is going to be "finish the journaling" day! LOL!!! But seriously...I am going to do it tomorrow!

Just a couple of reminders before I go...
  • Mix It Up is having a DT call! If you have ever wanted to be a part of a challenge blog DT this is a great one to be on. The "boss" Melanie is so fun and easy to work with and the mixers are so fun and inspiring! Check out all the details here.
This week’s mixer is a design inspiration - seeing stars! You must include a minimum of 5 stars on your layout. Those 5 stars must be made of different material, foil, pp, cork, metal, ribbon, etc... Let your imagination run wild!

I went pretty much by the book with the sketch with the exception of my journaling. I ended up writing more, so I just spread it up the page! LOL!!! As for the 5 stars part of this challenge…I was immediately inspired to scrap these photos of my Chuck Taylor’s.
My 5 stars are:
1. chipboard star covered with tin foil
2. acrylic star
3. sequin stars sanded of their red color to become silver and then embellished with a french knot in the center
4. cardstock star
5. rhinestone-like gem star

Kits and Crops and Sketches! Oh My!!!

I have some exciting scrappy news to share today!
I will be the guest designer for June at Scrapbook Doodle! They are a super awesome scrapping community with tons of fun things going on and the sweetest group of scrappers! This summer they are hosting a summer long crop called the Doodle Dayz of Summer! They will be posting daily challenges with lots of fun surprises in store for you! They have a great store along with super cute monthly kits. I will be working with the June kit and hope to share my projects here with you soon! Here is a peak of this month's kit!

In other scrappy news there are a ton of changes going on at Mix It Up!
For starters, Melanie has asked me to be the sketch designer and layout designer for Mix It Up!!! I want to thank Melanie for this amazing opporunity! I am so excited about this new adventure and it has given me the courage to finally sit down and learn how to use Adobe Illustrator. (This is something I have always wanted to do!) I am slowly getting the hang of it and I can't wait to share my sketches with you!!!

As for the other changes, several of the designers along with the sketch designer are moving on to new things. I will really miss working with all the great ladies who are leaving, but I am excited to say that Cindy, Bella and of course Melanie, are going to continue on our adventure.

We are changing up the format a bit and will only have 2 mixers per month with the next one set for June 10.

And last, but not least, we are going to have a DT call! More info will be available on our blog very soon! I hope we have a lot of interest from you in joining our team and I can't wait to start working with the new design team members! Oh and by the way, you will get to see my first sketch with our DT call announcement!!!

I hope you all have a great week! I have a small surgery planned for tomorrow and will be recuperating for a few days!

A little bit of scrappiness for you before I go...
