Something Wicked Halloween Card

When it comes to making cards, I usually start with the background. But not this time. For this card, I started by die cutting all the pieces for the Pumpkin Duo and Spencer Colorize Dies from Distress Watercolor paper. I also cut out the pieces for the lantern using the Candlelight Colorzie (which I believe has been retired).

Once I had all the pieces die cut, I then began adding color. I used Distress Spray Stains for the darker, bottom layers and used the ink smooshing technique with Distress Ink for the lighter, top layers. I used Distress Collage Medium to adhere the layers. Listed below are the colors I used for each piece.

Pumpkin: Scattered Straw, Wild Honey, Carved Pumpkin and Crackling Campfire and for the stem I used Peeled Paint and Forest Moss.
The skull...AKA Spencer: Antique Linen, Pumice Stone, Hickory Smoke and Black Soot
Lantern: Black Soot and Hickory Smoke
Candle: Antique Linen and Old Paper
Flame: Fossilized Amber and Crackling Campfire.

Once I had my trio of embellishments completed, I went about creating the background. To do this, I stamped the skeleton image from Tim Holtz Examination Stamp Set onto a 4.25 x 5.5 inches piece of Distress Heavystock with Black Soot Archival Ink.

I stamped the image a second time onto a piece of masking tape and cut out part of the design as you can see below. I then placed the mask over the skeleton (The mint colored piece is the masking tape) and then stamped over the image using the Tim Holtz Newsprint and Type stamp set using Black Soot Archival Ink.

I removed the mask and trimmed the paper down to 4 x 5.25 inches. I then did some ink smooshing with Old Paper Distress Ink. I then inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink using a blending tool. Next, I tore the paper along the right hand side and adhered this to a piece of black cardstock cut to 4.25 x 5.5 inches.

The sentiment is die cut using the Halloween Bold Text Dies from Distress Watercolor Paper and inked with Crackling Campfire Distress Ink. I also added a stamped sentiment from the Halloween Tiny Text Stamp Set.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed this bit of Halloween inspiration featuring the Tim Holtz Sizzix Halloween Release including Spencer Colorize, Pumpkin Duo and Halloween Bold Text Thinlits.
