Pocket Style Scrapbooking and 3 Birds Studio

Joy Pocket Page Scrapbook Page by Juliana Michaels using 3 Birds Studio Graceful Season Collection

Pocket Style Scrapbooking has become more and more popular. I have to admit, I was not too keen on the whole thing at first. In fact it has taken me until now to finally create my first pocket style 12 x 12 layout. Seriously, this is my first time!

I have always really enjoyed the process of creating on a 12 x 12 piece of paper, so I didn't see the need or feel the desire to do anything different. However, after having a bunch of photos printed recently, I realized as I was looking through them all, that I didn't really want to scrap them all and create a 12 x 12 page for all of them. Some of the photos just didn't seem to go together enough to all be on one page. That's when the idea of doing a pocket style page came to mind.  I decided to create a regular 12 x 12 page with the photos that were extra special and to then take the rest of them and do a pocket page.

The extra special photos are of my great niece being baptized I they are on a 12 x 12 scrapbook page that is up on the 3 Birds Studio Blog today. I hope you'll take the time to check it out and then you'll be able to see how the two pages coordinate perfectly with the help of the Graceful Season collection!

TIP |  HOW TO USE 3D EMBELLISHMENTS IN POCKET PAGES

I used quite a few of the Graceful Season 3D Embellishment Kit stickers on my pages. They are called 3D for a reason. Most of these stickers have 2-3 layers of double sided foam tape to make them dimensional. When I first put them into the pockets, I didn't like how bulky they were, so I removed them with Undu and then took off the bottom layer of foam tape using Undu again. This made them a lot less bulky. On a couple of the stickers, I also did the same thing on some of the top layers. In the end, all of the stickers ended up with only one layer of the foam tape. This still gives them a little bit of dimension, but they aren't so bulky that they won't fit well into the pockets.

I really do love the way my pocket page turned out and I am hooked on using pocket pages in the future for all of my photos that don't really need their own page. I really like the ease it gives me in keeping these photos together to tell the full story. Yes, these pictures are special too, but it's hard to make a page for every photo and when they don't all seem to fit well together, it is a great way to get them scrapped and into my album. My plan is place the 12 x 12 layout and the pocket page next to each other in my album.

  3. Ok, Julianna, be honest. Did you ask your husband to wear the orange tie to match the kit, or did you just luck out that way??????? LOL I know that I HAVE asked (more like told) someone to wear a particular color or item for a scrapbook layout!

  6. You do great pocket scrapbooking and this page turned out fabulously! I also hadn't really delved into it, until the Misc Me projects came up. I have really kept up with my Happy Tails Blossom binder....it has been such fun and I have enjoyed it immensely! I will be sharing it on my blog soon!
