Merry & Bright Card | Newton's Nook Designs

As I sat down to create my card, I just couldn't decide on a what stamp set to use. I pulled out all of my favorites and as I was looking at them I had a light bulb moment! What if I combined some of my favorite Newton and friends images onto one card? That's exactly what I did. I stamped and colored all of the images using Copic markers and then die cut each one using the coordinating die set.

This card uses the following stamp sets: Happy Howl-idays, Slothy Christmas, Llama Delivery, Naughty or Mice, and Santa Paws Newton.

The sentiment is from the Sentiments of the Season Stamp Set. I cut a piece of red cardstock using the Frames & Flags Die Set. I then stamped the sentiment with Versamark Embossing Ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I finished off the card by placing Newton and his friends onto a piece of white cardstock cut using the postage edged die from the Framework Die Set.

Love You More | Scrapbook.com

Hello friends! I'm so excited to share a new card with you today featuring Scrapbook.com's Fresh Florals and Berries Stamp Set! Scrapbook.com recently released some new Exclusive Premium Clear Photopolymer Stamp Sets and this is one of those new sets. It is perfect for all the floral lovers out there!

How to Create a Layered Stamp Design with Embossing

For this card, I want to share with you a quick and easy what to create a layered stamp design without having to create a mask. Typically when layering stamped images, you need to create a mask using a sticky note and fussy cutting. This technique gives you the same look without all of the fuss!

Love You More Card by Juliana Michaels featuring Scrapbook.com Fresh Florals and Berries Stamp Set

Begin by stamping your first image with Versamark Embossing Ink, sprinkle it with white embossing powder and emboss it with a heat gun. Here I choose the largest floral image because this is the one that I wanted to be on top of the other images. In the photo below this is the image on the right hand side.

To create the layers, take the next image you want to layer and stamp it with Versamark Embossing Ink. BEFORE you heat emboss the image, take a small paint brush and wipe away the embossing powder that's overlapping the top image. Once all of that is removed, emboss the powder with your heat gun.

Repeat this process as you add each new layer of your design. The main thing to keep in mind is everything else is below your top image, so wipe away what is overlapping that image.

Once the stamping and embossing is completed, color in your images with your choice of medium. Here I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to achieve a dreamy watercolor effect. I also used a water brush to help blend the colors and add some color around the flowers. I finished off the background by creating ink splatters. This is super easy to achieve. All you have to do is color with the marker onto a craft mat, spritz it water, and then use a paint brush to flick the color onto card.

To finish off the card, I used a sentiment sticker from Jillibean Soup's Garden Harvest Collection. You could certainly use a stamp here as well and achieve the same look by stamping the sentiment with Versamark Embossing Ink onto black cardstock and then heat set it with white embossing powder.

Newton's Nook Designs November Release Day 3

Welcome to Newton's Nook Designs November Release Day 3! Today is the final day of this release and we have two new stamp sets to share with you. They're perfect for ringing in the New Year or any other special day you want to celebrate! Just a reminder that all of the new products will be available in the Newton's Nook Designs shop on Friday November 23 AND their Black Friday Sale will be going on as well.

Happy New Year Card | Newton's New Year

For this first card, I actually combined both of the new stamp sets today. I thought Newton needing a drinking buddy! I colored the images using Copic Markers and then die cut them with the coordinating dies. I added touches of gold to their hats and the streamers with a gold gel pen. I then adhered them to a piece of black cardstock cut using the Frames and Flags Die Set.

For the background, I wanted a bit of shimmer and shine with foil. I took the Confetti Stencil and applied Therm O Web Deco Foil Transfer Gel over it. Once that was dry, I foiled it using a laminator and Therm O Web Gold Shattered Glass Deco Foil.

Let's Party Card | Newton Celebrates

My second card today features the Newton Celebrates Stamp Set. I combined it with the Cocktail Mixer stamp set to add in an extra martini glasses for Newton to enjoy! I colored the images using Copic Markers and then die cut the using the coordinating die set.

The background was created using the ink smooshing technique with Distress Ink on a piece of watercolor paper. I have had the best luck with this on watercolor paper as it can handle the water better. It will still warp, but once you glue it down to the card base it flattens out just fine. For the final touch, I added a few sequins to a touch of festive fun!

Newton's Nook Designs November Release Day 2

Hello friends and welcome to Newton's Nook Designs November Release Day 2! Today we have 2 beautiful new stamp sets to share with you. They are perfect for the upcoming holiday and winter season. After you check out the inspiration I have to share with you today, continue reading to get all the details on today's blog hop and giveaway.

Joy Christmas Card | Winter Birds Stamp Set

First up, I'm sharing a card using the new Winter Birds Stamp Set. Actually this card uses, both new sets. I couldn't resist combining them!

I first stamped the images and then colored them with Copic Markers. Then, I die cut them using the coordinating dies. Next, came the part of piecing and layering all the parts to create the design. Once I got them how I wanted them, I placed a piece of Therm O Web Purple Tape over them to hold them in place. Then I flipped them over and adhered double sided foam tape to the back of the flowers and some of the leaves to give the piece a bit of dimension.

To create the background, I used the new Plaid Stencil. I love these new layering stencils and I can't wait to keep playing with them. I inked each layer using Distress Ink in Fired Red Brick and Peeled Paint. To center the stencil on the paper I started with a slightly larger than normal card front. Once I had the design inked up, I trimmed it to size so the design would be centered on the card front. I love that the stencil was designed to allow you to create a larger design by simply sliding it over a little as you finish inking each section.

Merry Christmas Card | Poinsettia Blooms

For this second card, I used the Poinsettia Blooms stamp set again and combined it with the Sentiments of the Season stamp set. I stamped and colored the images with Copic Markers and die cut them using the coordinating dies.

Joy Christmas Card by Juliana Michaels featuring Newton's Nook Designs Poinsettia Blooms and Sentiments of the Season Stamp Set

To add a bit of texture, I used the stitched rounded rectangle die from the Frames and Flags Die Set to emboss a frame in to the center of a piece of white cardstock trimmed to 4 x 5.25 inches. Embossing with a die is super easy, however the plates and layers you need to do it vary with each die cutting machine. I recommend referring to your machines instruction manual for details on how to do this.

Once the embossing was complete, I stamped the sentiment in the center and embossed it with gold embossing powder. I then finished off the card by adhering the poinsettias to the corners with double sided foam adhesive.

Merry Mail Christmas Postcards | Scrapbook.com

Hello friends and welcome! Today I'm super excited to share a set of Postcard style Christmas cards I created using the new Scrapbook.com Exclusive Stamp Set called Merry Mail. I was thrilled when Scrapbook.com contacted me and asked me to create and share some cards using this new stamp set.

Merry Mail Christmas Postcards

As you will notice, the new Merry Mail Stamp Set is full of whimsical designs perfect for creating your own special delivery to your friends and family this holiday season! When I saw the stamps, I was immediately inspired to create a postcard style design. I began by taking a Neenah Solar White Card Front and trimmed it down to 4 x 5.25 inches. I then used a ruler and black pen to draw the center line and address lines on the card.

Golden Retriever Dog Lover Christmas Card | Happy Howl-idays Stamp Set

The first card I'm sharing with you using the new Happy Howl-idays Stamp Set and this is my favorite Newton's Nook Designs Stamp Set to date. Why you ask? The answer is simple...it has a Golden Retriever on it! And if you happen to know anything about me...I kind of love Golden Retrievers and happen to have 2 of them! So you can imagine my delight when I first saw this stamp design!

To create this card, I stamped and colored the image with Copic Markers. I then adhered the adorable dogs to a piece of white cardstock that I die cut using the stitched scallop from the Flags & Frames Die Set. For the background, I used a technique I shared on my Holiday Cheer Shaker Card I shared yesterday. If you happened to miss that card, pop on over there and check it out.

Sloth Like Christmas Card | Slothy Christmas Stamp Set

To give my little sloth something to hang onto, I added some pine boughs die cut using the Pines & Holly Die Set. I then adhered everything to a piece of white cardstock that I die cut using the stitched scallop frame from the Frames & Flags Die Set.

Wobble Toad Christmas Card | Mistle Toad Stamp Set

My third and final card today using the new mini stamp set called Mistle Toad! I once again stamped and colored the image using Copic Markers. I then die cut a couple of tags using the  Fancy Edges Tag Die Set. For a fun twist on things I adhered the toad image onto one of the tags using an action wobble spring. I love that it now looks like the toad is hopping around!

Newton's Nook Designs Holiday Release | Day 3

Hello friends and welcome to Day 3 of Newton's Nook Designs Holiday Release! Today we're showcasing 2 new stamp and die sets. One is perfect for all the coloring enthusiasts and the other is perfect for those who love shaker cards!

Merry Christmas Stockings Card | Holiday Stockings Stamp Set

The first card I'm sharing today was created using the new Holiday Stockings Stamp Set. I colored each stocking with Copic Markers and die cut them with the coordinating die set. I then personalized them by adding a name to each stocking...one for each of us...including our sweet Bubba's! On a side note, the stocking die that coordinates with this new stamp set also coordinates with a stamp set released last year called Stylish Stockings.

Merry Christmas Stockings Card by Juliana Michaels featuring Newton's Nook Designs Holiday Stockings Stamp Set

To complete the card, I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set onto a white cardstock banner die cut using the Frames & Flags Die Set. Before adhering it to the card, I wrapped a bit of red jute around the end of it.

Holiday Cheer Shaker Card | Ornamental Wishes Stamp Set and Ornament Shaker Die Set

This next stamp and die set are perfect for the shaker card lover! However, don't think that that is the only way to use this set. Make sure to check out how the other designers use this set and show you just how versatile it can be! I personally love creating shaker cards, so that is was I created to share with you today.

I began taking the solid ornament die from the Ornament Shaker Die Set and cut a piece of white cardstock with it. Using the Ornament Wishes Stamp Set, I stamped a sentiment in the center. This piece will be the back side of the shaker. I then took a piece of Double Sided Adhesive Foam and die cut it using the ornament frame die. I peeled off the adhesive liner and adhered this on top of the sentiment/back piece. To fill the shaker, I used one of the confetti dies that cuts out "Ho Ho Ho" and mixed in some sequins from my stash. Next, I die cut an Acetate Sheet using the solid ornament die and adhered this to the top of the double sided adhesive foam. To complete the shaker box, I die cut another ornament frame from red cardstock and adhered that on top of the acetate.

Holiday Cheer Shaker Card by Juliana Michaels featuring Newton's Nook Designs Ornamental Wishes Stamp Set and Ornament Shaker Die Set

To further embellish the ornament, I die cut a topper from gold foil. For the final touch, I added some holly using the holly leaves and berries dies from the Pines & Holly Die Set. I hung the shaker using a bit of gold cording and wrapped it over the top of a piece of green patterned paper that I cut out using the stitched rectangle die from the Frames & Flags Die Set.

For the background, I took a piece of Bristol Paper and the Holiday Foliage Stencil. I inked each cut out section with Distress Oxide Ink using a finger tip sponge dauber to help apply the ink into the small sections. I then finished it off by inking the edges of the stenciled piece before applying to the card base.
