Christmas Crafting

Christmas is right around the corner and making gifts for family and friends is something I enjoy doing throughout the year in preparation for the holiday season. The project I am sharing today was rather simple to create using an inexpensive notebook I picked up at my local craft store. I loved that this one had a ribbon already in place adding a nice touch to keeping the notebook closed as well as adding decorative accent to the embellished cover.

I used the Home Spun Chic Collection to cover and embellish the notebook. To create the front and back covers I laid the notebook down on the paper and traced around it creating two pieces, one for the front and one for the back. I added a half inch extra to this which was then wrapped around toward the inside of the notebook. Next I cut a strip to create the spine making it wide enough to cover over and overlap slightly onto the front and back covers. Once you have these pieces cut out, begin by gluing the front and back covers in place. Then glue the piece of paper for the spine in place. You might need to make a couple slits in the paper you are using to create the spine and tuck them down into the top and bottom edges to give it a nice clean edge. I finished it off by adding the felt flower, label, chipboard piece and letter stickers.

So thankful...

I truly have so many things to be thankful for this year! Despite all the craziness of moving, I have had time to stop and think about the many things that I am thankful for.
  • Danny my loving husband and best friend
  • My parents and for all their love and support
  • The rest of my family and for all their love and support as well
  • My health and well being
  • Danny's new job and my new job
  • The many new opportunities that await us
  • God's gracious and never ending love

Now I can breathe...

at least for a few weeks any way! The house is up on the market and now I only have a few weeks left at work. Then the craziness will begin once again as we try to find a new home and officially move. I will also be starting a new job in the new year. In between all of this, we will throw in the holidays for little added craziness! Ahhh...but we have so much to be thankful for during this transition in our lives and I am truly thankful for it all!

No on to some scrappiness...
